Ok this was supposed to be a novel, it is sold as a novel, but it looks more like a teaser. It is way too short, and almost nothing happens during it's shortness.

For a book that was randomly stumbled upon, it was fantastic! The plot was moved in fascinating ways through a stunningly deep reality. The mix between Steam and Paranormal was also very intriguing.

One of the best books I have read in years. Smart, disturbing, entertaining and exciting. Love this author.

For a college textbook, it is not that bad of a read.

I do love John Irving in his more recent works. This is his second book I believe and i found it much less creative, innovative and captivating than his other books. The story line was dull, every problem came from infidelity and sex, and the sexual themes in this work were much less interesting and exciting than the others. This is an example of a writer who has grown so much since the beginning.

A beautiful book that mines the notions of narrative and authority and their intersection.

Spanish story with almost a fairy tale style, following life-long love stories. Recipes are interwoven into the chapters. Quick read.

My dad wanted me to read this book so badly. I read the back cover, and thought, "Oh, no, not for me!" But I started reading anyway. Within 30 pages, I was hooked. When it ended, I wasn't ready for the story to end. One of my absolute favorites. Thanks, Dad!
Enjoyed this book right up until the last tiny bit-- I thought the resolution was entirely too pat. But I enjoyed finally hearing a story about the distant and rumored Tysen, and an extra set of appearances by his sister. (Whom I refused to call "Sinjun" in writing, that just bugs me to no end... see prior reviews...) Listened to the Audio CD version, and the narrator was, simply put, wonderful. I really wish she'd narrated the other books in the "Bride" series, I like her narration SO much more than the other gal. She carries the Scots accent very well, and her voicing of the various women and children is really quite nice to hear. Also, her pacing is much better. Either way, I enjoyed this story, and will probably keep going on Coulter's books in Audio format for my long commute.
