This is my favorite book of all time. I have reread this book more times than I can remember. I discovered this book before I read Catcher in the Rye and thus wondered why that one got all the attention. Its push to get active in the world, and at the same time the downfalls of intellegence in this world are remarkable and funny. It is also the book I have quoted in my life more than anything. After all dont we all think, "Everyone is Simore's fat lady?"

I just re-read this book, I love this book, so much in here about individuals, politics, perception, expectations, and how to live your life.
As a fan of the p-a genre, I did enjoy this book. However it lacked in some of the nuances that I look for in p-a novels. For instance, I could have used a little more description of the evils of the world. I understand that Mcarthy would rather submerge his readers in the world with no answers because that is the world in which his characters reside. Good read, very quick. It will make a good film...hopefully.

I have now purchased this book and am using to put some of the ideas into practice. I have been Square Foot Gardening for about 7 years now. This books makes SFG look like container gardening. I have always been afraid to really get in and garden in the ground because of obnoxious witchgrass that we have in some places of the yard. This books has inspired me to plant many fruit trees, and I am slowly making plans to plant guilds around them and to start planting "outside the box." I am going to try sheet composting around my blueberry bushes and my fruit trees, and the book offers very specific information on how to do this and what the benefits are. There are lots and lots of lists of plants, bushes, and trees and what their functions are in the garden. I'm very glad I have my own copy.

My life went into a tailspin when I bought I 75 year old house that needed a lot of TLC. Frugal Luxuries isn't very good...but it made my life so much nicer the first few months of chaos in my new house. I think I picked up at exactly the right moment in my life.

It turns out that if you take two of the smartest people in the world and have them write a book together that combines insights from their respective legal and psychology backgrounds, then you end up with one of the more interesting and insightful analyses of American constitutional law.

I didn't expect this book to be as good as the first and heard that it wasn't, but after reading it I disagree. I think that it was an amazing sequel to the first and a must read.

I put this book off for so long and finally picked it up today to see what it was about. It was a very quick read and what I imagine is the start of a really fun series, but I'm honestly not interested in reading the next nine, or the follow-up series. I get the concept, enjoyed Dan and Amy Cahill enough to KINDA tempt me into Book 2 "A False Note", but yeah, I expected way more out of it. Also, considering Riordan was behind the first book, I really thought it'd knock me out the park. I prefer him doing mythology, but that just might be me being a big fantasy kid. My favorite part would have to be how it's making me really want to read up on Benjamin Franklin, the center historian who's life you basically dissect to understand the first clue. I'm pretty historically ignorant, so this is definitely a dude I might wanna read up on. I even got excited when they hinted at Mozart being the main dude for the next book, but I think I'm just going to explore other books for now. I still stand by "Ring of Fire" by P.D Baccalario for anyone who wants a fun, historically enlightening book for young readers, as an addition to this series. Just to get excited about Riordan as an author again, it may finally be time for me to read "The Lost Hero" which I'm pretty excited about and have only heard good things on.

Some of de Lint's early stories. Interesting and not as sophisticated as his later works but enjoyable nonethe less.

I really enjoyed this book. Read it in 2 days. The story (or stories) of an extraordinary man's life as seen through the tall tales and jokes he imparts on his son. Edward Bloom a travelling businessman is Dying, and the stories revealed in this book are a jumble of stories and jokes he has told his son William (the narrator of the book). And through re-telling of these stories, William begins to understand what a wonderfully loved and great man his father was.
