3rd in the series. I wasn't disappointed at all (seeing as I only gave it 3 stars). I'm not reading this series to educated or glean insight in to the American Psyche. Not that my sights are set low, I do love how Harris paints the sleepy (and dark) South. Lily is a fine, strong and powerful protagonist. I will definitely continue reading about Shakespeare.

This book reminded me of the TV show LOST. And that's not a good thing. I spent the entire time wanting to know what the heck was going on, pushing through to the end for some answers and - there's nothing. I'm a little bitter about it. I don't want to say that this book was a complete waste of time, but really, it was almost a complete waste of time. I don't really care about the story anymore, because it just seems like one giant plot-hole. What in the world do these "tests" have to do with anything? Yeah. I'm annoyed. Also, I hate hate hate the fake slang/swear words. With all my tiny, cold, bitter little heart.

I am not an easy one to offend but this book was so extreme and so bad that I ended up throwing it away. Not even recycling because I didn't want anyone to dig it out of the trash! Chuck Palahnuik is just in it for the shock value and people are getting harder and harder to shock. This book made me want to puke.

I was expecting great things from this book as the first of the series, Snow Crash, is one of my favorite books. However the book was slow building and didn't really have a payoff until the last three chapters. I was hoping for something closer to what I remember from the first of the series and did not get it.

Estaba realmente tentado de hablar con una de mis amigas rusas después de este libro. Definitivamente hubo partes en las que siento que el ingenio y la sardónica se perdieron en la traducción o la confusión temporal esperada de una lectura estadounidense moderna de una novela histórica, políticamente potente. Demasiado inteligente para mí, pero fascinante. Tuve una idea de la injusticia de los tiempos en el goteo de una respuesta de clase alta al asesinato y el engaño. La forma en que se manejaron las cosas definitivamente no fue sencilla y eso sí se transmitió. Los matices, los extrañaba por completo; y aunque probablemente leí demasiado rápido, culpo a la traducción. Intentaré volver a poner esto en mi lista con un traductor diferente en algún momento.
