Đôraemon Đố Vui - Tập 3: Đôraemon Quá Khứ Và Tương Lai Thư viện Sách hướng dẫn

Whatever anyone says, it's five stars from me :) I know a lot of people tend to criticise this particular Shakespeare story...for numerous, justifiable reasons (I too would have liked the protagonists to be a little older than they were, and I did find the whole 'instant love - just add water!' scenario a bit hasty.) But as every die-hard romantic knows (I speak for myself), love is unbelievable in itself! And we have to remind ourselves that Shakespeare is writing directly from the point of view of a time and society with totally different standards. We can't really criticse retrospectively; it would be grossly unfair to judge this completely other world from the perspective of our own modern-day morals. Being the first Shakespearean play I've ever read, I, personally, was swept away - if only by the luscious, poetic fluidity of the language. The characters are alive (well..most of them are..until the end, anyway) and they seem to speak (or sing?) to the reader from the page. We can feel their passion, and their fervour, and maybe we can let our sense of reason dissipate for a moment. I suppose one has to 'suspend disbelief' in order to tolerate any sort of romantic fiction, right? Anyway, I digress.. So maybe the story isn't exactly ground-breakingly original - but who cares? His masterful command of the English language alone is enough to fall in love with. :)

Sự Trỗi Dậy Và Suy Tàn Của Đế Chế Thứ Ba - Lịch Sử Đức Quốc Xã Thư viện Sách hướng dẫn

I've debated for a few hours now, since finishing this read, whether or not it warranted all five stars or not. I've decided to err on the side of caution. This very well could be five stars for me. Next read, it may be. This book was a fascinating, illuminating read into the world of not just mountain climbing (the highest of the high nonetheless), but of what humans are capable, and more pointedly, incapable of. Krakauer does an amazing job of weaving the narrative with the background, the inner struggles with the external struggles. What left me captivated was the complexity, the frustration, and the fuzziness of it all. I truly loved this read. And while I'm confident I'll never do anything even remotely as difficult as climbing Everest, I have the unsettling desire to conquer something myself. While the climb itself is technically challenging and (should) require a certain proficiency, what must be overcome is the mental battle, the struggle of will - fight or flight, as it were. To a much smaller degree, that is what my full and half marathon experiences have been like. And on the philosophical side, in the struggles, the victories, and the deaths on that mountain - I saw myself and the internal and external struggles I encounter in my life. As Thoreau would say - "I find it labor enough to subdue and cultivate a few cubic feet of flesh." Somehow taking on an external struggle can help in what is perhaps the greater challenge - that of the internal.
