Plus, it's just a really good read.

This was good. It was mostly interesting to catch a glimps into what people's lives were like in the 20's. This was the CRIME OF THE CENTURY - it was a HUGE deal. I'm sad to say it probably would not make more than a blip on our radars today. But it laid out the crime, the events leading up to it and also their lives afterward very nicely.

So here I am, 19 out of 35 Whitney Finalists down, and out of everthing I've read so far, I FINALLY have a female character(s) to get excited about! Wow! I like Shanda, but I really like Cord- shes's awesome! Just the kimd of larger than life character that makes these kind of books fun reads! I'm only about half way through, but I can't wait to see what happens! update- I'm done! Good story, exciting conclusion. this one is getting my vote for best mystery/suspense/thriller. Really liked the characters and the writing was strong- my favorite title by this author yet! The one problem I had with this book was at one point the heroine makes a rather fantastic leap (cognitively) without a lot of evidence and a lot of people are on board with this leap with very little convincing.
