Revolves around British Dipolmats in America following the McCarthy era. A blend of fact and fiction from the political era of the Kennedy's. Could not sympathize with the adulterous Diplomats wife and her finding her soulmate in a reporter while deeply loving her husband and unable to bear the thought of life without her children but then offering to sacrifice them at the end. I was bored with the affair but loved the political parts as the thoughts and emotions of both sides were expressed with the outcome being known for decades. In that way the politics became real and not just history. The first hand accounts of the battle at Dien Bien Phu enabled me to get a feeling of what happened there. True to life, several of the men were haunted by the part they played in the wars and explains why many won't talk of their experiences afterwards. Easy read.

I'm only on chapter 2 but its already earned 5 stars!
Really good. Very descriptive, complex story set in the woods of an Oregon logging town by the author of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Makes you want to go out and get dirty.

Book #16 of 2009 It took me just over a day to finish this one... I think I may need to slow down. But anyway, another fun romance, two more in the series to go. Borrowed from the Library
Obvi.

Based on this book's jacket summary, I was a relunctant listener, as I usually don't want to listen to the common man's memoir. I have to thank Dee, my mother-in-law, for this pleasurable "read" and nice change of pace. Family and religious themes dominate the book, and thankfully "Marley" is only mentioned briefly as an important event for the author's life. Mr. Grogan's life shows how a generation, not without pain, broke away from their more conservative, traditional parents, and how there is eventually a chance for resolution and acceptance of fundamental differences between parents and their children..
A great story about Frances who will only eat bread and jam. A super story for picky eaters.
Characters include kids named Pie and Frog! It's like an allegory or something. But not.
