This book is like "Me and You and Everyone We Know" taken off the big screen and put into text...

I enjoyed this book even better than its predecessor! The boys adventures in trying to find their mother are heart-pounding, heroic, and action filled. I love the fact that the boys are convinced that they can find their Mother and return her - something that their father could not do when his own Mother was taken! I am a Mom and I would hope if this ever happened to me, that my family would search for me like these boys do for their Mother.

Quick easy read. I love Perrotta and though this isn't his best this is definitely a quick and easy read.
This is a wonderful book. Great story about a Bengali family and their lives as immigrants in the US. I highly recommend it. The author writes beautifully.
I really, truly wanted to give this book 4 stars. I had a genuine like for the author and his story, and I do think it is a highly underrated book. I know it doesn't sound underrated with only 3 stars, but it is true. For me it had ebbs and flows. For ten pages it would be great, and then for ten pages it would be dull and too much daily life at Takhli airbase or running around to other bases and places. If the author had sliced some of this dull daily rigmarole from the book then I think that would make it a 4 star. I chose this book expecting lots of juicy details of life in the cockpit of a F-105 over South East Asia during the Vietnam War, what I got was a bit of that but mostly, life on the ground in Thailand. I learned a lot from Bell's story though. I learned about F-105's which was what I had wanted when I picked this book up. And I learned about Kenneth Bell, who was a humble man who took blame when he was due it, and never pumped himself up to be anything more than a simple man who flew F-105's the best he could.
Granted I read this for school, but it is an interesting read. The way Abbey rights is very sarcastic and pessimistic, but he does make some interesting points.
I will admit I only made it through half of this book-the beginning was incredibly interesting and Michener has definitely done his research. He weaves an intricate tale of the development of modern Israel while simultaneously describing its evolution. Eventually, however, the formula becomes repetitive and I leave it to someone more patient than I to see it through to the bitter end!
I really loved this book and can totally see it as a movie. I loved the way the author goes back and forth between Henry time traveling and pesent day. OK maybe at first it is a little confusing, but stick with it! It is worth it! The more you read the more details are filled in and their lives become clearer and clearer. My only complaint is it seemed like the end was a little rushed. It is a long book and the details of Henry and Clare's life before they are married was wonderful. But I feel as though the author was in a hurry to finish the book and kind of left us hanging about Alba. I would have liked to know more about Clare in her later years. Also, how does she deal with Alba? I don't want to give too much away for those who haven't read the book yet! But I found myself purposely avoiding finishing the book because I didn't want to lose Henry and Clare from my life. (I know, I'm corny.) Just read it!
