Finally a book that makes me want to read it. So, I read it and enjoyed it a lot. It was exciting and the characters were interesting. Unraveling the mystery was fun. Looking forward to the next one.
This is a fun book to give adults and old kids celebrating certain milestones: graduations, weddings, “big” birthdays such as 18, 21, 25, 30, 40, 50, etc. Uplifting rhyming tale. One of Seuss’s best books, in my opinion.

This was an awesome book. The best part is, it's part of a SERIES!!!!! YEAH!!!
This was a funny parody on the Twilight series. It started out really strong and then seemed to fizzle towards the second half of the book. A very disappointing end. I do not recommend this one. I will be blogging more in my latest book review, which might not be until next week. I'm on vacation and have really slow internet access where I am. :P You can read a longer review here on my blog: http://norabpeevy.blogspot.com/2011/0...
I enjoyed this short read. It easily held my attention all the way through. At times, I thought Rose was just a bit too brash, but then she would say or do something that would just melt my hard-heart into a gooey puddle. She also is funny, in a snarky kind of way. I like that she thumbs her nose at her ostensible superiors, often showing them up as highfalutin, know-it-alls who actually are somewhat out of touch with reality. Throughout the book, there is sort of skirmish going on between the politically correct group, who admonish Rose to conform more to their standards and Rose, who seems honestly not to give a rat’s patootie about kowtowing to their demands. She is enlisted in helping them solve a tricky problem; determined to resolve the issue in her own unique way. Rose is a quirky, not always particularly likeable heroine, who I am eager to follow along with on her next adventure. Stacey is an author who knows how to create a story that entertains by creating a world similar to our familiar one but darker and much more dangerous. Then she adds characters that inspire loyalty in spite of their flaws; in my opinion, it is a winning combination. This book was provided to me by the author, through Bewitching Book Tours, in return for my honest review. Reviewed by Laurie-J
Motherless Jane Peck ran wild until age eleven when, against her father's wishes, she decided to become a proper young lady at the urging of her father's apprentice, William. When William leaves for the wilds of the Northwest frontier, Jane is devastated. When, at age fifteen, Jane receives a letter from William proposing marriage, she is eager to accept, even though her father does not want her to. But Jane gets her way, and she sets sail from Philadelphia on a ship bound for Washington. But the year is 1854, and sea travel is not easy. Jane faces dangers and hardships on board, and when she finally arrives at her destination, she finds that William is not there to meet her. Alone in this harsh wilderness, Jane is going to have to work to survive, even if it's something no "proper lady" would ever do. This is the first book in a trilogy about Jane's adventures. I really enjoyed all three books, and recommend them to readers who enjoy historical fiction.
Pretty cute. I really enjoy when books end leaving us thinking about the same character doing something different - in this case, becoming a cat. Very cute!

I had no idea this book came with a twist or two! An absolute page turner! Love love love The Red Scarf and now I cannot wait to read Kate Furnivall's The Russian Concubine ! I fell in love with all of the characters in this story. Each of them had their own unique personalities and the settings were...WOW so vivid and believable. Each backdrop made me feel as if I were there; sometimes good and sometimes very horrifing! I recommend that you read about Sofia's journey to Tivil, what leads her there... and find out what awaits her in this tiny village. You won't be sorry, I promise you that!
I read this book in the German original. The writer's style contributes a lot to the story and captivates the reader.
Woolf is not for the feint of language or mind. The most accessible book she has ever written is probably Orlando, but To the Lighthouse is my personal favorite. She explores her subjects from the inside out so critics of her work sometimes have a hard time with a less than tangible plot. But the beauty of Virginia Woolf is her way of honing in on these small, seemingly insignificant moments of life and exploring their importance. Her work requires patience and commitment but if you give yourself over to the grace of her language, you will not be sorry.
Maravillosa historia!
