Nassima Mechenane mechenanenassima — This was a really creative book. at first i thought it might be a little scary for my 3 year old but while reading it, it was much funnier than i thought. My daughter really enjoyed it and that was the best part. Neil Gaiman is my favorite author and the fact that his range is from children books to adult is amazing.

Cady Justice _irloom_rtifacts — Like a few other reviewers, I picked this book up at a secondhand bookstore because the cover was different and the few sentences that I read on the back were interesting enough. A requirement for books that eventually become my favorites is that they're realistic, and this book was nothing but. I longed when Evan, the brooding 15 year old son longed; I felt for 17 year old Susan's inability to relate to most. Though the book is written from alternating views of Evan and Susan, you see aspects of all of the characters, from the erudite professor father to the whimsical and slightly-off little sister. The characters and situations are all so true that it's heartbreaking; I found myself wrapped up in situations that I had experienced that were so close to those in the book that it was almost eerie. A touching and almost despondent tale of growing up and growing apart, Departures will undoubtedly leave an imprint on anyone who reads it.
