Callum Clayton _enzi — Perhaps one of my favorite books of all time. I read it first in fifth grade and maybe once a year (or every couple of years) since then. On the surface, it's a sci-fi space novel. Go deeper and it's about evolution and the path forward. Deeper still and it's about transformation. But it contains other lessons, too. I used the scenario of HAL and disconnection and Clarke's words of "since he had never slept, HAL didn't know he could awaken" to talk to my daughter about the end of a relationship. Since she'd never been through the end, the awful feelings and all, she didn't know she could get over it. It's a good lesson. An important lesson. I learned too about work being a good way to get past trouble in your life. The book is not about any of this - except evolution and transformation - but I learned a lot from it.

Ketil Storvik _etil_torvik — I found this book one of the only realistic fiction books that i like. Prediction not true jolly rancher had nothing to do with an important part. this remides me of the my sister the vampire series. like oliva, penny moves to a different place and finds the good thing that are there, even though its a different enviorment. iwish there was a sequal because it sort of left you at a cliff hanger. I like how the author really made these charaters grow from beggining to end. i wonder how penny's dad feels about her staying. I wonder how penny and charity doing. it makes me wonder what would happen if this book was continued.
