Gaston Elmond gastelmond — this book talks about the second world war. It is about this boy named Bruno. He and his family had to move from berlin to the countryside. from his little bed window he spotted people behind a fence in striped pijamas. These were jews. These people were held in the nazi concentration camp.one day bruno goes outside to his house and into the woods to Emplore. he meeta a jew boy called Shmuel. they became really good friends so every day brunoo goes with him to talk. one day Shmuel couldnt find his father so as the book finifhes as a final adventure Bruno Dresses up in stripped pyjamas and climbs the fence to help Shmuel find his father. Bruno was going back home to berlin bot he went and help his frien and when he decided to go back to his house the Nazi soldiers put the boys to march. Neither of them new what was going on but soon they were crowded in the gas chamber. So bruno and Shmuel die holding hands and when his father knows he died at the gas chamber 1 year later he doesnt care what happens to him when the red army ariives.

Hang Dai _evin_ — This book is a collection of poems by Billy Collins. A lot of the poems have to do with nature in some way, and are well written. Some were serious, some humorous, and all make you think. However, his poems didn’t particularly hit home with me, nor do anything for my love of poetry. It’s not because his writing is bad, on the contrary, everything is written very well. The writing style he used though did not connect with me personally, and I didn’t attain any enjoyment from reading this, even all the way through. I liked one or two poems, but on the whole it was not good enough for me to read again.

Afrique Gabon djiza — I read this for the first time maybe 10 years ago, so it's the 2nd time through; my book club is reading it. It's still imperfect - it could use a lot of editing - but it's powerful even if one knows the ending, which I won't spoil here.

Yuran R nedoperepib217 — I was expecting something a little less gritty, a little less heady - something lighter since it purported to deal with changelings and faeries, but after the first third, it becomes a compelling (adult) read. Some portions of the book could have benefited from some editorial polish. But ultimately, the promo material has it right, to wit, its an astute, creative fairy tale for adults.

Elder Macedo eldermacedo — These bitter glimpses of the Holocaust in Poland ring like small folorn bells tolling us all to hell. I'll give you one example. In "The Key Game" there's a couple and their three year old boy. They finish dinner, it's late, 10 at night, but before the boy goes to bed he has to play the Key Game. They have been playing it every night for two weeks and the boy still hasn't got it right. The problem is not the boy, it's the father who just isn't quick enough. The game starts. The mother calls out "Ding dong!" imitating the doorbell. That's all she has to do. The boy jumps up and runs to the door. "Who's there?" he says. And then, "Just a minute, I have to find the keys." Then he runs back into the main room and runs about making a lot of noise with his feet. He pulls out drawers, slams doors and yells "Just a minute, I can't find them, I don't know where Mummy put them!" Then more stamping about and finally "I found them!" That's it, that's the key game. In a minute or so, the father reappears from the bathroom. He says "I still need more time, he has to look for them longer. I slip in sideways... but it's so tight. And he's got to stamp his feet louder." The mother says to the boy "You're doing a wonderful job. You know that if someone should ring the doorbell one day when Mummy is at work, everything will depend on you? And what do you say when they ask where your parents are? " The boy says, "Mummy is at work. " "And Daddy?" The father yells "And Daddy??" The boy says "Daddy is dead."
