I completed The Terror two days ago. What a great story. It's amazing that Dan Simmons has not lost his touch after 20 years. The true story in itself is amazing. Explorers trying to find the North West Passage are stranded for years in the ice. This was the norm in the middle of the 19th century. Provisions were made to account for long stays on the ice. What the explorers didn't account for was a creature that is outside the stranded ship. Plucking sailors one by one. It's big on pages, but the story is a quick page turner. Enjoy!

The mythology of this series seems to keep improving and I find myself getting caught up in it easier and easier. The problem is that she fixates to much on the fashion industry and mundane items that you just glare over anyways. Also the books need to be longer. This read is only about 1 day worth.

I just read this again and felt like I was a kid again. The writing us traditional, but gripping. The end is a bit odd (the 'Magic' that stands for religion), but I would still say it's one of my favourite children's books.

It is a short novel (for me, all under the 200 pages is short...) but very intensive. A story of seduction, of passion that win over conventions. And old story indeed, like those of Rodolfo Valentino in the role of the Sheick, when he seduced a maiden. Here we have a Pirate, a strong, old style pirate, that prefer men over women, that like a bit of rough over gentleness. But also we have a Pirate that, when the butcher's love is give freely, become the true lover. And the Butcher is an debauche angel, a man that never has experience love nor passion, and suddendly he find first passion and later on love. http://elisa-rolle.livejournal.com/38...

Good in a sort of predictable way (okay, not TOTALLY predictable and I did like the story and where it took you and the supporting characters), and while technically clean, there was still quite a bit of suggestive behavior and immorality "off stage" so to speak. Harriet's father and aunt were absolutely abominable and I may be naive but I can't imagine people were really like that . . . really?!?

This was a fascinating book - part mystery, part historical novel. I felt as if I was reading a true story (stories) rather than fiction. The novel was well researched and well written. I never felt a turn of phrase or 'document' was misplaced. I thoroughly enjoyed Ebershoff's work.

All of Brown's books appear to follow the same formulaic approach. If you have read one of his books you know how the other books will end. This book, like the others, is purely plot driven, offer little character growth, and address conspiracy theories and no themes.

The author reviews 8 qualities children have that allow them to be happy. And reminds young professionals and tired parents to basically stop and smell the roses. I'm all for Escaping Adulthood!!!
