Novela menor, literatura utilitaria... El título es de lo poco que se puede salvar de la novela.

The Last Goddess is a small, glossy paperback, crammed with well-chosen photographs and a concise, but surprisingly insightful text. Marilyn Monroe was always much more than just a movie star, but a woman who `managed to cut a very wide swathe right through American culture.' Charyn shows that the real tragedy of Marilyn's life was not that she was weak, or a victim, but that she was constantly underestimated by others. The Last Goddess is only a summary of Marilyn's story, and doesn't claim to unravel her every last thought. But Charyn does succeed in celebrating her remarkable talent, which has outlasted most of her peers. The book ends with a selection of excerpts from books about Marilyn, a filmography, and information on each of the 130 pictures makes this a valuable source and useful introduction to the legendary star.
Very engaging and readable. I learned a bit in the process. Some aspects were a bit exaggerated.

Holy melting icicle!!! This was a page-turner that I couldn't put down. I was so, so surprised to find out who the culprit was!! I never expected that!! An excellent read!

This is a novel about Jane Austen! She is the sleuth in this one.
It was good. Kind of wierd because the author switched tenses and times very fluidly (word?) but I was in the mood to be distracted by something other than school and this did just the trick!

** spoiler alert ** I loved this book! A lot of things really happened. I remember one part when James was in a hurry to his hypnotherapy appointment when Scott stopped him on the way to tell him about his new relationship with Fern the new librarian. I felt like I was in a hurry too for some reason. I also thought that was the cutest story about Scott and Fern. Anyway back to the mystery part of the story. The supper club members had a few new additions to their team. They are Sullie, a fellow that works with Lucy, Murphy the reporter, and Jane James's ex-wife and wife again. They really worked well together this time around. The murderers turned out to be the people that they least suspect. He had a really good way of hiding himself. Ending on a good note I love the way that James bonded with his ex-wife and his son that they got remarried. I love a happy ending.
