The books get better and better. I am on the 3rd book of his Rain series now. I already read the 4th. The first book sets the foundation and this book was better. You'll really enjoy this series. If you like action, martial arts, and learning about how a professional hitman thinks. I really like the dialogue between the characters. Some very witty remarks. Its funny and entertaining.

As a distance runner, I can totally relate to Murakami's theme that distance running is a parallel for life with all of its highs, lows, great experiences, and days when you're just phoning it in. I recommend it to anyone who loves running or is trying to understand someone who does. :) As a side note, I read this book while laid up from a major injury and unable to run and it got me through by making me feel as though I was not alone in my longing to run again.

Margareth Duras is a long poem, in different books with different verses.

I found the book quite confusing till I reached the last parts of the book. It does make you feel more hopeful about your dreams/ambitions. The book teaches you not to give up on what you want. It also tells you to look for signs in life. It is well written, which makes it more interesting and makes you want to read even more; however I was not sure about what was happening until I finished reading. This book is not particularly life-changing although spirituality seekers might love this book. The story line of this book also contributes to what makes me say that the book is well writtern. I do love the theme of this book, but this book hasn't changed anything in my life. The story is simple, yet sucks you in. The story is about how a shepherd boy's life changes as he follows his dreams and the signs that his life shows him as he searches for a hidden treasure. I find the story quite inspirational.

There's a point in the story where I lost sympathy for the wife. That makes it difficult to go on, but I probably will anyway. I am purposely not delivering a spoiler.

Medical murder mystery. Out of all her books I have read this was the must unarming. The underlying story will make you think twice about children and international adoption. This is a true page turner.

A very impressive book that I enjoyed very much. The timing was excellent as well, as I've been thinking about the processes of peoples and cultures pushed to extinction in the context of the Roman expansion in antiquity. So much diversity has already been lost, but as the world continues its march toward a more unified global culture, I wonder what the end will look like. How many languages will be spoken? What ceremonies will be celebrated? Is this a good or bad thing? From the standpoint of morality, this was an eyeopener which certainly made me examine my own sense of right and wrong. And Achebe does not hide from the truths of the ways of his ancestors. He does not attempt to convince the Western reader of the injustice of the oblivion the Igbo culture was pushed toward by portraying an idealized version. Twin exposure and polygamy are simply the facts of 1880's Nigeria, and the reader is left to puzzle through the question of justice with regards to the British conquest.
This was a book I read as a child, hundreds of times-to the point that the cover fell off. The story of a girl who reads to escape and who also has magical powers was something that my younger self loved. This is truly one of the most fondly-remembered books of my childhood.
