An amazing book of friendship - a friendship that is often one-sided. Very interesting if you've ever had a relationship where you felt like you were putting more into it than you are getting back. Plus it's written by Ann Patchett so that means it's well written (Bel Canto notwithstanding).

I was pleasantly surprised how much I really liked Remy. In my opinion he was a very complex character. I admit, I didn't like him at all in Without Reservation. He was a jerk almost all through the book (but a handsome one of course...lol) and I hated the way he treated Keaton. Luckily, we find out why Remi acts the way he did, and soon he became a character that was not only likeable, but someone who captured my heart. The D/s relationship between he and Jake surprised me, too. But I have to say as much as I loved Remi, Sterling and Rhys stole the novel. I can't wait to read their story. Sterling is going to be such a handful! Thanks again for the recommendations my friends!

I'd never read an Agatha Christie novel before and didn't know what to expect. Reading this I felt like I was watching a murder mystery dinner. I appreciated the straightforward crime and the frank and logical way of finding the solution. Some of Poirot's conclusions (which were always correct) seemed a bit of a long-shot for a guess, but I suppose that's part of what adds to the delight of down-to-earth mystery novels. The reader could follow the mystery well, and aside from the impossibly correct guesses Poirot makes, the reader can feel comfortable making her own guesses about the case. I suspected the ending and was pleasantly surprised at the outcome. This is a solid and straightforward mystery that doesn't manipulate or deceive. I think I'll go back to Christie for a refreshing read now and again.

This author is my five-star-guy. Always. Until now. Three reasons he failed me this time: 1. The sudden use of foul language. (Yeah, I know these books are about murder and such, so hardly innocent, but I find the crude talking distracting and cheap) 2. It was very sinister. (Again, I get it's a murder mystery, but there's a difference between dark forces at play and old fashioned homicide) 3. There was no justification for our hero to spend so much effort and care so much for the damsel in distress. The relationships in his other books are plausible and make sense, this one was a huge stretch. The entire time I found myself thinking, "Really, you're that committed to this chick after one drink?" (Yes, I frequently speak to the characters in the books I read, but only while actively reading, not throughout the day, so don't worry about my sanity)

An interesting tale - full of thought provoking situations. The continuing story of Taylor and Turtle which began in The Bean Trees. Beautifully and descriptively written.

Good book...makes you think. I really liked the facts he includes when making an agrument. For example, how NYC decreased violence on the subway by just cleaning off graffiti in and around subway cars...very interesting. Good read too.

Absolutely the BEST of the Dresden Files series thus far! I have really enjoyed reading this series and experiencing Butcher's amazing growth in his writing and his wit! (Remember the first book of the series was his FIRST novel and he wrote it in COLLEGE!) I've said it once, I'll say it again-- if you aren't reading Jim Butcher, you should be!
