**ducking all the flying tomatoes** I am sorry to say that I did not enjoy reading this book. I found the story and romance frustrating. The romance didn't work for me because Harry and Dizzy had so many misconceptions between them and I barely saw them interact in a romantic way. Dizzy thinks Harry doesn't like her as more than a friend for most of the book, while we don't see Harry's real feelings until past the 100 page mark then I was annoyed at him for not going after what he wanted. I just did not enjoy the way the romance unfolded and the way his cousin was included to keep them apart. I also did not like the way Harry's dyslexia took over so much of the plot, I understand it would have been a problem but it was just over emphasized as a plot point. I am glad so many people enjoyed this book but I was not one of them. I still gave it three stars because while the writing style wasn't to my taste, it was still well written.

I was impressed how the author could take such an intereisting protagonist and such improbable situations and make the readers see it all as normal. At first I thought it was just about the family and his sexual orientation. But, then I realized that it was rally about a search for his own identity.

I somehow found an original copy of this book at my parents house - a ripped up little paperback with a crazy 60's purple swirly cover. This is not literature. This is barely much more than a joke book - but it is FUNNY!

Updated Update: A couple of days after finishing this book, I just happened to drop it into a conversation with a very nice looking young man and he was very impressed, it turned out he loved Kerouac. :) Haha. I am a nerd. Update: FINALLY FINISHED!!! Took me forever... but I did it. Still reading this book....I enjoy it and can relate to so many of the characters, but I feel so weighed down by this book. I haven't read anything for pure pleasure in so long, it is really depressing me. I feel like I HAVE to read all these books, which is making it hard to get through them and this is definatly the case for this one. It is taking forever- I need to sit down and power through it!
