The last time I read 'The Hobbit' I was quite a bit younger, and I enjoyed it quite lot more. It really is childish compared to LTOTR - and understandably, since it was written for children. Not too bad considering that.

I am such an animal lover and this book just reaffirmed why! Grogan's writing style is humorous and whimsical, yet when it comes down to evoking his love and grief at the end, his simplicity brought tears to my eyes. I absolutely love this book (I have yet to see the movie) and would recommend it to anyone who has or wants to get a dog.

Lots of people reviewed this book and said that King has lost his touch. Not true if you ask me. King at his best...he only gets better with age. Not one of his more horrific. Loved It!

Sadly, this is not a book that held up on the second reading. I read it in college and was absolutely blown away. But when I reread it last year, it just felt very dry and so much less amazing than I had remembered.
