J. K. Rowling really came through! The Harry Potter series will be a classic for many generations of children, teens, and adults. I was worried at times (because of certain parts) during this last book that it would deviate from what had been a very terrific story, but in the end I found this book, and the entire series, fascinating and special. This 7th book and books 3 and 1 are my favorite three books in the series, but this series of 7 books tell a single story; it’s really one big book, and it’s a truly great one. (And it's 4,100 pages for the American regular print hardcover editions.) This is a serious work, even though it’s a fantasy, and even though there is much humor; it contains an incredibly detailed world and fabulous characters are in it. There are multiple deaths, including those of beloved characters, but there is so much joy and hope, and I left this series in an uplifted mood. There are wonderful messages about the values of courage, love, loyalty & friendship, belonging, responsibility, and doing the morally right things in life. I adore this book and this series. Among my favorite all time books and I’m an avid reader. Books 1 & 2 and maybe 3 for 7 & up. Books 4-7 for 8 & up. Depending on the kid. And up means all ages!

I read this in the midst of my own "early, temporary retirement" so it was rather fitting. It's witty and a quick-read...I'd recommend for a nice little escape.

not so much fun to read I like raunch but there are far too many stops and starts for my taste but i am certain it would have been a blast to hear as a book on tape this is the perfect fellow at the end of the bar regaling you while you wait for a thunderstorm to pass material

it's not a really good book, but i'm a fan of the other two ringworld books and Larry Niven's 'Known Universe' so I was suckered in. some interesting stuff happens, but the ending is quite unsatisfying. i could have been just fine not reading it.
