Out of Egypt is a portrait of Jesus as a young boy, and a wonderful tale Anne Rice weaves. Many fans are disappointed that she's gone away from Vampires and Mummies to The Holy Ghost, so to speak, but I found the book beautifully written and an enlightening read. Why? Because these are the years of Jesus' life that no one really knows about. Anne doesn't create a superhero or supernatural being here, she creates a boy that's different, a boy that will someday change the world. She makes Jesus a human child and in doing so I came to love him just a little more. What is even more wonderful is how she brings to life Mary and Joseph. Be you a believer or not, this tale of Jesus' early life is one not to be missed. Its one to be savored and enjoyed and perhaps even read again.

the book is similar to the DaVinci Code - exploring alternative viewpoints/histories of the life of Christ. There are some really odd and formulaic ones out there, but this one was interesting and pretty sweet. There's more of a positive focus on his life rather than on age old conspiracies...

Didn't really like the narrator in the beginning, but somewhere along the way I began to enjoy her performance. A fictional story that told of a historical event I had never heard about. So tragic what happened in Paris to so many innocent people, by their own countrymen. Not a fan of the ending, but still thought it was a good story. I would recommend listening to it.

I enjoyed this book. It was a Friday free book for my Nook. It's well written. I had to look up several words. The characters were true to east Texas. The whodunit mystery kept me until the end. I would recommend this book.

I'm not much for the surreal aspects of this book. I guess I read more for clarity than I do to fall into and absorb another world. Murakami does a great job of setting up and involving the reader in hyperbolic worlds that are harmoniously believable and metaphorical. I appreciate his style. It's just not my taste.
This is an A-Z of food stories with each letter representing a unique food item from Antipasta to Indian pudding to Zabaglione (an Italian dessert). Very nicely illustrated.

perhaps I am biased by my existing fascination with Mary Shelley's life, but I adored this book. it was tragic, wonderful, and inspiring; but not in an awful Chicken Soup for the Soul way. this is the perfect way to find out a bit about the life of Mary Shelley (incidentally, my hero). this is the perfect bit of easy-to-read background after reading Frankenstein.
