This book rekindled my love of classical literature and began my love affair with Russian literature.

You know how sometimes someone can be speechless because they are so overwhelmed by the artistry of a painting or an author's words? This isn't the case with this book. I am speechless because I am very unsure as to how this got published in the first place. This novel features a storyline about a girl who gets caught out having plagarised another author's work. I was never going to feel sorry for this protagonist. I feel that plagarism might have been a better option than this "original" dreck. If this book were a movie, it would feature a green screen with paper dolls before it. That's the amount of character development and detail you get. Anything positive? I somehow managed to finish reading it and you can all benefit from my advice to avoid it like the plague. And I am done.

This book is a tremendous asset to anyone trying to figure out what to do with their life. The authors make the case that each of us have motivational patterns that have existed in us clear back to childhood. Once we figure out these motivational interests we can find applications (jobs, etc) to use them and be fulfilled. The truly incredible thing about this short book is how much theology is crammed into it. Not only are the authors helping us discover what our motivations/passions are, but they help us see how these fit into God's design for us, and how we are created to be in the context of our families, our churches, and our communities. We aren't just isolated beings trying to find a job we like, we are an integral part of the fabric of The Church (Christ's body). Each and every one of us! This book is very encouraging, uplifting and inspiring, and I think even if you have a job you like or love, this book is worth the read to help you discover the bigger picture of how your passions can be used to build and bolster the Kingdom of God.

Good. Your basic Jodi Picoult book - people facing tough decisions.

This book posed an interesting perspective into the whole Hemingway mythology. Written from the viewpoint of his first wife Hadley, the novel suggests some of the demons that drove Papa Hemingway. Hadley is portrayed as a sympathetic character, out of her depth in the Paris of the 1920's, but trying her best to be a good wife. Unfortunately, she is a creature of the 19th century and Hemingway quickly tires of her. I believe they did love each other, or the idea of each other, but were definitely not suited for each other. I was blown away by the betrayal of their good "friend" Pauline. While she may have thought herself a "modern" woman, what she really was was selfish. Many of their Paris set did. The 1920's were a self-indulgent age, but many of these people were extreme. For many of them, their art was the only thing they were true to. This book is an interesting period piece, as well as a illustration on relationships.

This is my favorite Tom Robbins book, and I have read them all, many times. I will be adding all the rest but in no particular order.
This novel was an enjoyable read, but was lacking believable interaction between the characters...Also, the big mystery which carries through to the end of the novel seemed to fall flat when it was finally exposed. That said, it was an enjoyable read, and if you liked The Forgotten Garden, chances are you will like this novel, too. I chose not to do an official examiner.com review of this title because I was less than riveted by it...

This book was a wonderful amalgation of the nostalgia and awesomeness of 8-bit videogames paired with hip art.

When you think about it, there was never any good reason to expect that the two or three golden generations of the original Hollywood empire should have been at all cultivated, poised, sensible or even polite. They were the living definition of a "ragtag bunch" that succeeded, alongside a unimaginably explosive new medium, often on the vaudvillian talents of looking good, cracking wise, and having the nerve to try. So it's not too surprising to know that quite often the practitioners -- whether actor, actress, or power-producer-- might well have had seismic cracks in not just their public personas, but in their ability to act like normal human beings. Add the scorch of the international spotlight, and unheard-of salaries, and you have a boiling little microcosm of petty, petulant and egomaniacal. Enter the children of the super priveleged pretenders .... What could possibly go wrong ? Well, a fine line to tread, dissecting the egregious and the atrocious from the unintendedly humorous, and that's what O'Brien's book attempts. Too often surly and painful to be humorous, too often too-close-for-its-own-good, and entirely unsure of what balance to strike in order to hit on Satire .... this doesn't work out. Try Nathaniel West's Day Of The Locusts, or Fitzgerald's searing Pat Hobby stories, instead.

I found this book randomly on a used bookstore shelf; I'm so glad I did. This is a delightful little book! The author has a good feel for the character voices, and even manages to learn something himself while trying to teach the denizens of the Hundred Acre Wood about exercise.
