Glorifying an unhealthy relationship. What more can I say?
Re-read June 13, 2010 Wow. I still loved this book even the 2nd time round. I've downgraded it from a 5 to a 4 star (more likely a 4.5 - 4.75) only because since the first time I read this, I have been introduced to real literary giants with true masterpieces under their belts. But does it mean I enjoyed this book less? No. I loved the unwinding of the storyline, solving a lot of the questions posed in the airliner books and seeing the characters grow. This series is by no means written by a literary genius, but it is still a great read, great story and a great distraction from everyday day life, which lets face it, that's why we read. So finally, yes, I still recommend this series and this book is the best of the 3 so far.

This is the first volume of a very Entertaining and smart story about a down on his luck preacher who happens to be the one thing that God fears. It's a story that proves that smart can also be crass and at some times even disgusting, but it is alvays enjoyable.

There seems to be a fantasy genre of 'young boys who are orphaned to some extent and discover they are the chosen one and possess special abilities with which they must save the world'. However, that didn't stop me enjoying this book. It was a light read, probably meant for younger readers than me, but I really liked the characters, and celtic mythology is always interesting as well.

Shrug. Funny dysfunctional family. Some laugh out loud moments. Typical (read: annoying) non decisions made by immature men. So, if you're in the mood for making your own family seem fairly normal, and men behaving badly amuse you... this is your book.
A great book about how power spoils humans and the story of hundreds of reveloutions

Why Marx Was Right by Terry Eagleton seems to me to be a good candidate for required reading for all high school students-as well as people my age looking for a good introduction to Marx. It doesn't hurt to be a little left of center but it's not a prereq. Well-written, well-reasoned, the book is a welcome introduction to an important figure by an excellent writer. Eagleton is not rabid on his subject and is able to see flaws in his subject. And while this book won't tell someone all they need to know about Marxism (could any one book?), I found it accessible and interesting (always a great combination of traits in a non-fiction book on a dense subject. I personally think everyone should read it. And I would welcome any suggestions for other accessible books on the topic, not necessarily "pro" but not impassioned "anti" either.

Quite a "kick in the pants," as promised, this book inspired me to make a regular habit out of my sparse songwriting (I've since lapsed, but I'm working on it!) My main issue is that it sort of boldly plows over the idea that you may have a family to support, and quitting your job to follow your heart might crush your ability to do so. In the book, this is sort of offered as "par for the course," but I wish there was a bit about how to ease into doing what you love for a living. Maybe that's the point: you can't really do that.
