A quick, engrossing novel

I LOVED everything about this book. It's British, and it has a mean, beastly cat, and that is awesome. Seriously, I wish I was British! They are so funny - British people can make the most ordinary things bloody hilarious. That's pretty much what this book is - the average diary of your average teenager, except laugh out loud hilarious at every single page! I read this in a couple of hours, nonstop, and I was busting out laughing over and over again. I have only found myself laughing this hard with one other book. Besides the obvious fact that readers will appreciate the humor, Georgia is just such a great character. She is real and faces all her teenage issues will humor and candid commentary. I loved getting a peek into her diary, and I can't wait to snap up the rest of this series!

Mathematical satire. It can be done, and Edwin Abbott did it well.

Cute and entertaining book... I couldn't put it down! Great characters and fun mystery/murder! Lucy is a sweet and fun loving character even though she doesn't believe in herself. i think that is why she is so endearing! Love the idea of match making by aura's! I wish I had the time to read when I first received this book but it was well worth the wait! Can't wait to start reading the next one!

Kenapa yah, ga membekas di hati. Kalau mau berkomentar soal buku ini kayaknya aku harus baca ulang dulu deh :)
This is one of the only books in recent years that made me cry. It is peaceful but powerful prose.

Entertaining story of the rise and fall of Death Row Records - a good read for those who were caught up in the heyday of gangsta rap or those who are interested in getting behind the scenes of the music industry.

Although there were no real plot twists and the story was somehwat predictable, this book is well worth reading. The main character, a young and likeable underdog, tells the story of Depression-era circus life with effective grace and courage. The reader gains even more perspective into this man's life because Gruen sprinkles events from the current day (Jacob is now in his nineties) into the narrative. The ending was absolutely ludicrous, but the effective characterization of both humans and animals far outweighs that.

This book has two narrative threads, one taking place a hundred years ago in Chicago and one in present-day Chicago and Europe. The first thread involves the killing of a Jewish immigrant by a Chicago police official, while the other involves the travels of Bosnian immigrant living in Chicago who travels to Europe to research the story of the Jewish immigrant. Hemon does a good job of telling both stories and creating structures for both stories that parallel each other. The problem I have with this book is that neither narrative thread is particularly compelling. This is especially true of the story taking place in the present day. It's simply dull. A fully realized novel based on the story of the Jewish immigrant could have been a major work, but as it is written the historical story is not fleshed out enough to be truly memorable.
