The best young adult authors do not write like they are young adult authors. They simply write stories that have younger main characters, sometimes these characters learn a lesson other times they do not. Reinhardt writes like she just wants to tell us a story. I really enjoyed this book. It was a random grab from the library; I had not heard any buzz about it, but the cover and the topic intrigued me. I was really taken away by the simplicity in which this short story is told. There were no grand sweeping metaphors or deep inner meanings. It was the story of two brothers and their past and present relationship. From page one I was there with them, feeling and trying to understand where they were coming from and I stayed with them until the end. It was a satisfying story that left me happy and not wanting or needing more.

I love how the author shows both perspectives, not just POV of self, but of each other as well. The "almost but not quite" about each other fits so many scenarios in life. It captures the reality of some conflict/ miscommunication.
