The basic story line is good but I feel like the author went too far (which became annoying) in getting across that the characters are mostly black. I don't think all the slang was necessary.

I rated this book so highly because the story interested me, there were several nuggets of wisdom, and I liked the message overall. I liked that the main characters are often unimpressed by the Christians around them; it's refreshing! The writing was not that great, but better than most contemporary Christian fiction.

This book was an interesting mix of mystery, alt-history, and life in the English countryside in the mid-twentieth century. Considering the setting, it was almost bizarre how the book still hit close to home for me. I don't want to say any more for fear of spoiling it!

I still can't decide if I like Jodi Picoult as an author yet I must because I keep reading her books. I guess I like that they make me think but they always disturb me too. This one made me really sad because I feel so bad for the main character. Love will do crazy things!

The only thing I do not like about this book is the title! I never would have picked it up if I would have seen the title as I do not feel like my life is falling a part in any way, shape or form. The book was opened to a page in my friend Steven's bathroom (I know...gross!), and I picked it up and feel in love with the first paragraph I read. He let me take it home to read it and since I have bought my own copy and several more for friends. Life is difficult at some point or another and this book offers such easy to grasp wisdom to get you thru those difficult times. Pema has become one of my favorite Buddhist Authors and I will read any book she puts out from here on.
