I had to read it for my Class and now am about to write a paper on this book. If you read the book without any background I think it will procure very little amusement since Austen defies a lot of conventions of her times regarding the literary propriety or history for that matter. The events certainly can not be taken as factual but as an attempt to depict the real emotions of human beings, and manners especially of that era. If you are read enough to discern little tricks she uses in this book, your experience will greater manifold. Anyways, a very good book. Glad I have read it and my favorite among the bunch that required reading for this class. HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT......... hopefully no one from my class is reading this and thinking "WHAT A NERD" I could be.

Not a fan of this book. Breezed through it in a day or two but didn't understand the hype surrounding it. There are much better books out there to read.

CHICKEN! Tons of great chicken recipes. Really, good chicken recipes. Lots of them. Because you can do all sorts of things with chicken. Actually, there's few things you can't do with chicken. Unless you've gotten bored of its blunt taste, of course, which, well, happens. (I guess I just don't feel much like eating chicken at the moment. If I did though, I'd probably cook something from this book).

This was my third exposure to Neil Gaiman (in literary form, I have also seen the movie production of Mirrormask). The first was his collaboration with Terry Pratchett, called Good Omens. The second was his much darker American Gods. Neverwhere follows the adventure of Richard Mayhew as he stumbles onto a beaten, bleeding young girl (who is only ever identified as "Door") on a sidewalk in London. He stops to help her, much to the chagrin of his upper-class fiance, and his life changes forever. He suddenly becomes a "citizen" of a land he never knew existed, simply known as "London Below." He is barely, if at all, visible to the people in "London Above" that he knew, and they don't seem to remember him at all, even if they can see him. London Below is much darker and much more dangerous. Gaiman's writing style is terrifically fun and reads pretty quickly. Perhaps that is because it holds my attention very well. His villains are either somewhat endearing, as in the case of Mr. Croup and Mr. Vandemar, or terribly frightening and dispicable, as in the case of...well, I'd best not name that one because it could be a "spoiler," and I wouldn't want to do that. There are some good twists and turns in the plot and the ending is, well, happy. I think.

This was the first book i read for the Literay Analysis class and I have to say that I have read better books than this one. This is a book with some short stories in it and the thing I didn't really like about it was that it did not grab my attention as others book have as soon as I start to read them. But if you like short stories this may be a book to take a look at.

I didn't enjoy this like everyone else. Maybe I'm too old to appreciate the description of every nuance of first love. Maybe I was made uncomfortable by the fact that the object of her adoration was arrogant, patronizing, moody, manipulative, spying on her, constantly blaming her for problems... seemed to me that his vampire qualities were the least of her troubles. I finally started turning pages with some enthusiasm when the bad guys arrived on the scene.
This is one of my all time favorite books! I've read it twice and listened to it as a book on tape once and I find new stuff every time.

This was probably my favorite of all of the Mary Russell mysteries. The focus on the steps taken to solve the mystery was greater than in the others, and I loved this. It is full of excitement and never stops surprising the reader with new twists and turns.

I enjoyed reading this book. It made me a perfect company during a short trip:-)). The writer managed to create a creepy atmosphere and made me imagine the feel and spirit of ancient times. I pictured for myself every chapter with vivid imagination. It was definitely a page-turner and a good passtime. It`s a pity the ending didn`t make sense.
