Holly Golightly is a 50s version of this day's party girls (check their names on the cover of magazines..)Nice life with many admirers, some booze, parties and some potential Mr Rights. Deep inside Holly is unsure and tries to escape something (her past). I liked Truman Capote and Breakfast at Tiffany's. The annoying little thing when reading that book was the constant humming of "And I said "What about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"She said "I think I remember the film And as I recall, I think we both kinda liked it" And I said "Well, that's the one thing we've got"" Thank you, Deep Blue Something.

By far the best book Shreve has written. Good story but nothing to really take away from it.
Extremely well-written - a great insight into the mind of a chef who sort of fell into it accidentally. Sure, I'd have liked more about running the restaurant and cooking and maybe a bit less about the crappy marriage, but that this not what this book is: it's a way for Hamilton to make sense of it all and maybe, finally, find her place in the world. And so it succeeds admirably.

While I did enjoy the book, it was not what I expected based upon the synopsis provided on the back of the book. This book chronicals the author's and her husband journey across the United States to make a better life in California. There are ups and downs and when the recession hits the two of the them hard, they make the tough decision to move back home to Maine. I guess I misunderstood the book description because I thought that Caitlin, her husband, Dan, and baby Matty are taken in by listeners to her NPR "Weekend Edition" show as they make their way back across the country. This was not the case. However, this book did resound with me because my husband and I are at a turning point in my our own lives and I could relate to how scared Caitin was to just up and move across country without family and friends to be right around the corner to support them.

My husband and I love this book. It clearly shows, through illustrations, behaviors that are "no-nos" and those that are acceptable. Even before our son turned two, he knew what was considered a "no-no." Some of the illustrations are hilarious, but still effectively convey their message.

Good read and probably helped me solve my knee issues to some extent but I think the DVD is really necessary, at least for me it would have been.
great book! I read it for L.A. a couple years ago. Great Read, I may not have picked up on my own.

I just finished this travelogue written by Emma Larken (pseudonym) about her experiences in Burma, or as its authorities would like us to call it: Myanmar. I found her account to be informative, engrossing, surprising, and...she honors the brave people who must endure the present conditions. I recommend it to anyone interested in Burma, Orwell, oppressive regimes, 1984 (the book), travelogues, other people's lives, oh, and tea.
