It wasn't a surprise that this book was so delightful and how comforting to know that Julia's written voice is just as charming as her trilling and colorful "Bon Appetit!" Her connection with France resonates for anyone who's found a place they feel at home, no matter what.
just super
This book follows Max to the doctor for his annual physical. It has fairly simple text, but does a good job of showing what typically happens at the doctor's office. The publisher calls this a "Purple Level" book because it "presents basic topics and objects using high frequency words and simple language patterns." Even with the repetition, the reader would have to be at the end of letter name/beginning reader stage moving into becoming a transitional reader to read this book independently. But, it would be a great read aloud to help discuss doctor visits. The pictures are bright cartoon characters.

I read this book first in a creative writing class- telling a story from an autistic boy's point of view is a novel idea and a very difficult task because it is more often than not impossible to know what is going on in the head of an autistic person. I read this book again as a psychology major, and I must also say that the book is accurate and although fiction, almost gives the reader an insight into autism and the way autistic people work. Very well done.

so far... ... great!
Ephron writers honestly about aging, marriage, and career with humor and without rancor. My favorite story Aruba, deals with the uncontrollablilty of her hair and the refusal of people to mention that her hair has taken on a mind of its own and she has a bald spot she cannot see on the back of her head.

This is a book that needs to be read very carefully. When I first picked it up in the bookstore and even read the prologue, I believed it to be a history of Mormon politics and theology. While Krakauer does tell the events of the development of this American religion, he focuses more on the extremist Fundamentalist Mormons, a distinction that can be easy to miss or misstate if one is not careful. Being religious but not Mormon, I found Krakauer's tone to be one of continued scorn for all religion of any kind, and I thought he could have just as easily conveyed his point and story with less of his own opinions and emotions woven into the chapters. I somehow doubt that unreligious readers would have noticed this as much, though. History has always been my least favorite subject, but this book kept my attention on nearly every page, and I had the distinct feeling of being smarter having finished it, as I learned a great deal of historical facts, names, and dates that are never covered in public school. Krakauer touched on the interesting debate of whether or not it is a valid defense to claim that your religion forced you to break the law. I appreciated that he did not try to solve the argument, but presented the difficulities associated with the continuing issue in legal courts.

Zable weaves a heart warming tale using stories of former refugees who escaped from Nazi's and Soviet's around WWII fleeing across Europe to Japan and then China before making there way to a cafe in St. Kilda, Australia.
Wasn't as good as their first attempt. You could tell this book was written by two people.
孩子们的书-我认为那是一本好书。 主题-即使遇到困难也要做对的事,一路上您可能会失去朋友...
