Heart-stopping novel about Turkish politics, treats political and religious radicalism in a totally unexpected way, feels a little like "the stranger."

Ramona continues her daily adventures... only this time, she finally escapes the tyranny of the elderly Mrs. Kemp and discovers that her parents are going to have a new baby! Ramona's distrust of her upcoming role as the middle child is charming, but this book doesn't quite live up to the hysterical flashes of insight in Ramona's literary debut, Ramona the Pest.

I found this book incredibly absorbing. The path of the story is complicated because it shifts in time, which I loved -- the title character's husband is involuntarily moved about in time, so each chapter is introduced by the date and ages of the characters. The wife's age is predictable by the date, the husband may be appearing as a child or a grown man. It's a great love story and page turner. I found myself not wanting to finish the book.

This is a great book. Sad, but True story and a great reason to remember the soldiers that served for us, then, as well as in any war, and the things they had to endure! They are Truly Hero's!

An irreverent book of spiritual depth and humor, the author breaks each chapter into its own mini-tale of personal experience. It is easy reading, yet contains unique views of life and its humility. I'm not sure what classic Lamott is, but this is a signature work by a very highly regarded author unafraid of revealing her warts to her readers.

I'm frustrated because Evelina is apparently SO beautiful that she can risk being silent, awkward, and impolite in absolutely crucial moments. She has discretion to act as she pleases, which really seems to be the result of her startling loveliness. How unrealistic is that?
It started off really good but the end got lame.
