Love to see they can grow up well after making some very public mistakes. Thank God we are not all subject to that level of scrutiny.

"The Day of the Locust" is another favorite - depressing enough to be enlightening (and well written, of course).

Read the first half or so, and became unbearably bored. It's a five day trip across the country and it takes 256 pages. You do the math. He spent more time rambling on about Lewis & Clark than anything else. I think what bothered me the most was that the book didn't live up to the billing. It comes off as a kooky account of 15 years spent driving back in forth across the country. In actuality, it is more of a wandering rumination on the history of cross-country travelers in America, with some family anecdotes tossed in for flavor.

I love Silverstein's books, I have read this to my three sons over 20 times! It's so important and the message is about sharing and atonement..atleast this is what I got from it. It lets my boys know that mom loves them unconditionally, and that being a parent is an honor, and privilege, and that my mother was so right when she said, "You'll have a child who is just like you when you were a child."

I'm not sure if i really liked this book. Sometimes it was ok but overall the story was kind of a letdown. I geuss i'm just a stickler for good endings. Open ended books are just not my thing. Is there going to be a part 2?

I don't know what it is about stories with a Southern flavour, but I love them. Inasmuch as I adore stories set in English countrysides with rambling walks in nippy weather, stories with a Southern twang tend to promise a quirkiness that can only come with off-kilter characters and a logic that can only make you go hmmmm.... Maggie Sweet is a sweet, sweet read - light, easy, but with a poignant punch in the gut. Nothing new really, but the telling of the story is one almost every woman can identify with. Well, that's life. :)
"recovery no longer seems to consist of picking up the pieces of a shattered self (or fractured narrative). It's facing the fact that there never was a coherent self (or story) there to begin with." -116

I prefer Effexor but that's not the point. Prozac nation was probably one of the first memoirs I ever read. (Now one of my favorite genres.) Wurtzel is a little overdramatic and it's hard to figure out why someone so privileged would be depressed. I guess she's just batshit crazy which makes this book pretty fantastic.

Would it be wrong to just say this book sucks? It was poorly written, poorly laid out and by no means had anything 'erotic' about it. Trite, materialistic and really just downright boring.

Bu kitap, Sabriel ve Lirael karakterlerinin daha da geliştirilmesi vaat etti, ancak önceki üç kitapla ilgisi olan sadece bir hikayeyle bir dizi kısa hikaye oldu.
