It's worth buying for "Authority and American Usage." Also read the essays on the 2004 election and conservative radio.

I learned a lot about the reformation and it's major players from this book. I never understood how much translating the bible into English had effected the movement and how controversial it was at the time. My favorite portion of the book actually talked about Sir Thomas More and that prompted me to rent 'A Man For All Seasons' and watch that. So much happened during this time period (Henry viii, etc) that it was great to learn more about it. My only annoyance with this book was the author's frequent and predictable references to Joseph Smith at the end of many chapters that always began something like this: "We can see the parallels to Joseph Smith's life in this way..." I still give it 5 stars, though.

Enjoyable enough, as well written as any of the other Vampire Chronicles, and it certainly adds to the series, but certainly not my favourite. If I had known prior to reading that it would cover so little of Pandora's 'vampire' life I may have been less disappointed with the seemingly rushed finish. The blurb certainly suggests more will be covered and that we would find Pandora seeking out Lestat in New Orleans, but this does not actually happen within the novel. That said if you are a fan of the Chronicles you will enjoy it, the narative flows beautifully, I would have certainly been happy to read more.

This book has the potential to distract you from whatever rotten stuff you're living through. Wow.

I love Salinger with all my heart. But this book was a bit of a bore.

Very sad story. Couldn't put down.
I LOVED this book. Great history mixed with delightful fiction and a pleasant ending too!
My mom had an old version of this book that I came across as a young girl. This is another example of a book that I could read over and over again at any age because of the timelessness of the story.

I learned about this series of books from a Steven Layne conference I was at on an inservice day. It reminds me of a "crank call" and is delightfully immature. We read some of the letters at a team meeting and laughed so hard we cried. Love it!
