I loved this book. Lisbeth Salander is rescued after being buried alive in a grave. She's kept in a hospital room with no ability or desire to communicate with those who could help her. Or is this really the case? Actually she's arranged for Mikael Blomkvist to smuggle in a small computer devise which allows her to figure out what really happened and how certain things did. Mikael's sister is her lawyer in a trial which will ultimately cost her freedom or set her free. She does so brilliantly with the information Lisbeth and Mikael unearth and in the process much of Sweden's corrupt systems and individuals are exposed. The book provides resolution both for Salander and the reader who has come to love and care about her in the process of reading this trilogy. I am only sad to know there will be no more books by Steig Larsson.

I enjoyed the fact that this book was not nearly as moralistic as other books from the 19th century. While Mrs. Gaskall was undoubtedly 'religious' she also had a very practical and sympathetic gaze on her fellow men/women.
I'm not quite sure about where in the world there is a demographic that doesn't find this book appalling at one point or another while reading, but you have to hand it to Mr. Kultgen, it is one hell of a story. I found myself laughing just as much as I found myself cringing, which I guess evens things out nicely. It honestly is never boring, and you can't help but be morbidly curious as to how it is all going to end up until the point where it becomes blatantly obvious. By that point you should be used to Mr. Kultgen's storytelling enough to actually want to know how it is all going to end. Yes, it is crass, and oftentimes purposely disgusting, but I actually, for the sake of face-value entertainment, enjoyed it. Read it at your own risk, I suppose, and leave your morality on the front cover.
What is more gut-wrenching than the brutal killing of an innocent child? Answer--44 murdered children. From the two starving, young brothers tracking a cat for food to the protagonist tracking down the murderer, I was hooked. The dark setting of Stalinist Soviet Union heightened the drama and gave me a taste of the oppression felt under that regime. I really enjoy historical fiction that comes through on my expectation to be transported to another place and time. Well done. Terrific reading by Dennis Boutsikaris.

Il peggior lilbro mai letto, impregnato di razzismo allo stato puro, un fulgido esempio di strumentalizzazione degli eventi storici.

An original fairytale from Ruth Sanderson, who has illustrated many of my favorite classic fairytales, and it is a welcome addition to the canon. The illustrations are not her best work, but accompany the story and will especially help keep younger readers engaged.
