Wow. I definitely did not expect Meyer to write a story based on Edward's perspective. It's hard to critique something that is unfinished; it's almost unfair, but there are enough pages to make a small critique. We get know to know Edward's family a little better, which I loved, especially Emmett who seems like a big teddy bear. I always thought the author wanted to make Edward mysterious and daunting, which was what I got from the Twilight novels. I wasn't too pleased at how Edward was portrayed - the mystery of him is gone and if anything, he seems creepy and insecure - not at all powerful as portrayed in Twilight. In a sense, it is endearing since it humanizes him, but I'm glad Meyer did not finish the script because I don't want to hear Edward's insecurities (or whiny, gushy dialogue) at the point where James arrives in the novel. I wish the script talked more about how he became a vampire, how he felt about that, but again, it's not fair to assume the author would not have done that later. Overall, the unfinished novel was very entertaining and it actually makes me appreciate Bella more after reading this. I loved the beginning parts where you can see where/why he falls in love with an "ordinary" girl. I'm glad Meyer released this in a legal way - shows a dedication to her fans.

Stephen King hits the spot again! this is a nightmare-type scenario, Isolated House, successful authour and a No.1 fan who is a bit "unpredictable". Read and enjoy
The book centers on an island off the coast of North Carolina and tells the fictional story of Theodosia Burr (daughter of Aaron Burr), whose ship was lost at sea, and the three remaining elderly inhabitants of that island in the late 1960s. I almost stopped reading this book several times because it was really not gripping me. The end did bring things together, but it was still amazingly slow for such a short book.
I enjoyed the topic and the raw honesty that the author writes with. I can't say that I agree with the author on everything, but it is interesting watching her own mind go through a major transition and later transformation. It is a book that is not quickly read, but very meaty and emotional if you have the open mind to stick with it. There are some taboo discussions and brutally honest comments made about people and places that are relevant to the story. That is why I say it is important to keep an open mind. On the other hand, the writing does flow from memoir-style to fiction fairly smoothly and I found myself stopping and thinking about this numerous times throughout the book. Is every detail/conversation REALLY true? Some sections seemed to be a bit stretched.
So far it's pretty funny! It took me alittle while to get hooked...started off slow, but I'm on chapter 28 now & hate having to stop reading to go to bed:)LoL Ok, I finally finished & it is pretty good. I've heard some of her other books were better, so I plan to try them. After you get into it, this is a good read:)

I didn't really know what to expect from this one, except tha the girl in the bookstore told me it was good. It's actually really good. The main character Jessica is ironic and sarcastic and lovely, and her friends are horrible. The author is really good at writing about teenage stuff without making it all sound like bad clichés, and the way it's written like a diary makes it fun to read. This is part of a trilogy (I think, if there's not a fourth book on the way) and it is the one I like best.

i like this book because she has to choose if she is going to stay human or be a vampire. but she does not have a choose because jack has choose for her so she does not die.
