I have to admit that I was apprehensive about reading more Matt Reilly books after I read the Scarecrow series because I didn't think it would compare and I'd be dissappoint...not true, I loved this book!! ACTION ACTION ACTION...you think its predictable and then you'll be proved wrong over and over.....I'd say that the last line of the book sure did make you think. The way Reilly writes it makes it extremely hard to find a spot to stop reading at....you really can't put the book down :) GREAT JOB Mr. Reilly! I can't to read 6 Sacred Stones. Actually 7 Deadly Wonders is the first book I read that got me into these types of books that led to reading James Rollins and Clive Cussler... Thanx again :)

Roy is an >exceptional writer. Her use of language, ability to craft a compelling plot, descriptions, and characterizations are ALL incredibly good.

For the best, this volume doesn't particularly shine.

Gordon Korman wrote a favorite kids' book of mine entitled "No More Dead Dogs" about a boy who is tired of reading about dead dogs. Well, this boy would like to extend that idea towards dead relatives too. Give me abduction, abandonment, illness, abuse, amputation. Just don't give me another book about a loved one six feet in the ground! If you couldn't tell, I think I may be becoming insensitive toward the genre because, for the life of me, I could not get into this one. I think it was a very sensitive portrayal of a boy going through the grieving process, and the first-person narration sounded authentic, not too wise and not too child-like. But I needed more from the plot because it felt way too long and meandering, bordering on mopey. The narrative needed some driving force because the invisibility angle felt underdeveloped. I didn't want to keep reading. I just wanted it to end. The illustrations felt out of place and didn't look like they were done by a middle-schooler, unlike the "Wimpy Kid" series pictures. My indifference to the book might be because I just finished a similar story, "Bird," about a boy coping with the death of a loved one. That book was much more efficient and heartfelt for me. I don't know. Maybe I need a break from the genre. Or maybe this book needed a better edit. Or perhaps I need a more powerful sensitivity chip implanted in my brain. Or maybe the answer is all three.

This haunting tale of the Holocaust is not the most memorable of works published on the subject. I feel almost callous giving this book 2 stars, but it's just not one of those books that captivated me.

Great information on what makes people change their minds and behavior. Some good examples of their theories in action. I heard Chip speak and he was very entertaining as he summed up this book.

Oh my God . . . the most boring book I've ever read! and i must give credit to jean auel because i read about how much work and research and time she puts into these novels and i know how accurate her descriptions are of everything . . . but she easily devotes 4 pages (atleast) to describing the terrain, the flora and fauna, the animals . . . and picture this . . . the story is about two people crossing ice age europe from one end to the other . . . and the book is 865 pages . . . the longest one in the entire series so far!!!!! by the way, this book took me about 2 months to read, the longest i've ever spent reading a single book. but i finished it. and a few years later i re-read the series, but i skipped this book.
