one of the rare glimpses inside BOTH the women's and gay liberation movements of the late 70s and how they clashed. fascinating firsthand account of the historic moments -- both good and bad.

Fascinating go-to dictionary guide on Greek, Roman, and Germanic mythology! Not good if you want juicy re-tellings, of course, but it's great when you need a handy reference.

I loved this book!! I thought I'd get at least a week of reading out of it but I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to get the second in this series. Well written, fast paced, and humorous. I'm in love with Hadrian and Royce. As soon as I can sneak another into the house book without a certain someone noticing how many have come through the door lately, I'm going to read the second. My daughter is enjoying it (She's 10, nearly 11)and has read the first chapter already. Anyone who likes Lord of the Rings type stories will enjoy this. In fact, anyone who likes a book that moves very quickly, with lots of twists and turns to keep you guessing right until the end, will love this story.

The simple writing style and book length made this a very easy read about the serious subject of sexual slavery in Cambodia. The author did a great job setting the scenes of the story and also explaining the mentality of the people around her. Due to my own very limited knowledge of Cambodia and its people, I especially enjoyed the bits of history and cultural lessons from the author.

Sometimes book recommendations are a great thing, and sometimes they are not. I really wanted to like this book, recommended to me by several reliable sources. I didn't like it. In fact, it totally depressed me. I kept waiting for it to get better and better, and it did not. Ugh.

fd maurice, i believe, was an anglican ahead of his time. his concerns for the world and his writings in response to deeper ethical/theological questions are useful even today. i especially fell for his essay "on the word 'i'".

It was amazing to read about this man, his life and family. To see the struggle, the passion and intergrity of one of our forefathers or founding fathers. Do we have characters like this who currently live and care in America? Politics is so complicated

This was a refreshingly good read. Lahiri is a great character study, and she helps quell stereotypes simply by the normalcy in her characters--the universal problems they encounter and the erring human ways in which they handle life. This is a collection of short fiction stories that read as biographical pieces. Some turn out well for the characters, others don't, but all of them are interesting, thought-provoking, and point out humanistic qualities that surpass cultural differences.
