Giving us an idea of where Faith goes and what she does after "Sunny D went from being an outie to an innie," No Future for You is the second volume of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Season 8. The concept/plot was quite excellent, and quite a bit more dark than anything Whedon would have been able to get away with on prime time network television. The dialogue is spot-on and one can actually hear the characters speaking their lines. The artwork is much better than the previous volume; I had no trouble identifying who the individuals were supposed to be. Kudos to the idea of putting a yellow submarine on Giles' sweater.

Really, that's 2.5 stars, mostly on the strength of the writing, which is often quite lovely, and Book One, the first third or so. As a story of failure, though, it is a failed story. As the characters' dissipation increases, the book's artistic cohesion dissipates, becoming scattered and episodic; scenes become less concentrated and resonant as the book proceeds. Rosemary, who gains our sympathy in the first section, ceases to exist thereafter except as a pale reflection of Dick; her appearance in Book Three is half-hearted and obligatory. Meanwhile, the shift in perspective towards the end, from Dick to Nicole, is neither illuminating nor moving, especially as Nicole is never all that interesting or sympathetic a character. I think that somewhere towards the middle Fitzgerald got as tired of this book as Dick did of his life, and that the moral failures of the protagonist parallel the artistic failures of the author.

Technically, I listened to this book, which, for the record, is a really awesome way to experience this book. The actor who reads it is kind of BRILLIANT. I have a total crush on goth Will Grayson, and each John Green book is more delightful than the last. The themes of identity and truth and fear are true to life and confusing and beautiful. (This book has a lot of language, just as an FYI, especially if you choose to listen to it.)

I enjoyed this book more than The Red Breast. Nice and suspenseful.

Before Reading: I'm very glad i finally can begin to read this book, hearing things like 'better than THG' and such high rating on goodreads made me expect a more than decent dystopian story. After HP taking the gold one, THG and Unwind takes the silver and bronze medals from my point of view. Let's see if Divergent could have a place that changes the order. After Reading: I can start with saying that this book is nothing like THG. A lot of things reminded me of Matched. In Divergent, I couldn't sense that uneasy feeling when I read THG and Unwind. The world was not as rooted and realistic as in those mentioned... I once read that as a writer, you shouldn't write paragraphs and chapters that your readers might tend to skip while reading/rereading. When I think of rereading this book, I consider skipping more than half of it. Reading this book was like watching a movie while doing something else and just paying attention when things get tense. I didn't really care about training/initiation phase that takes place right after Tris' choosing. The initiation was just some fun to open shiny package to get to the chocolate bar. And when you get to it you just taste and finish at the same time. Taste was good but it didn't last. And after all that reading and the preparation phase the story kinda unravels very quickly and thnigs that should take more focus and therefore more word count are wrapped up very sloppily and they are rushed to an end. Because of this, I couldn't really connect with Tris. It felt like I only read some kind of plot summary. I don't know if this is SPOILER but, The faction she chooses is like crazy unsupervised kids running and hopping around and in spare time they get to paint their bodies and put some accessories on their bodies. The black clothing and all underground thing felt like pushing it to be darker and in some way reminding creatures of night like well 'a vampire!' If this was a rip off of THG I would have liked it more. As an original work of creative writing this book offers nothing readers (like me) would care about. It doesn't change the way you think, it doesn't inspire, it doesn't put anything more to dystopias or YA novels. The book is finished right where 'more than average' is started.

Sorry to say this is my first Mira Lyn Kelly read but won't be my last! This is a passionate reunion story, filled with emotion and poignancy and sizzle. Loads of sizzle! Ryan and Claire are finalising their divorce, but through mutual disclosures and building trust they grow closer. I loved the practicality of this novel. No trite or miracle endings. Just two people working hard to find their way back to one another.

These books are best read aloud to a rapt audience at bedtime (I had the good fortune to have Tim Curry read this one aloud to me (via the audiobook) while I intermittently followed along in print). It's a kid's book, sure, but this way you'll have the perfect excuse to enjoy it yourself.

not bad, but after awhile you just WANTED SOMETHING DRAMATIC TO HAPPEN! I guessed the obvious and thought the last third of the book justified the rest. Havent seen the movie. Wonder if it is really sappy or only kinda sappy.

Fuck! Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck. Thanks a lot, man! You and your fancy book just had to go and wake Immanuel Kant from his "dogmatic slumber", didn't you? And every single fucking time I pick up a philosophical tome like Critique of Pure Reason I have to be reminded of how lazy I am for not thoroughly reading through all of the British empiricists. Don't get me wrong, from what I've read of yours, you seem like a very precise philosopher, but now I have to read you with scorn. Look at what you're doing to me. None of my Goodreads friends are going to want to play with me anymore. "Hey, it's Jimmy's page, that pretentious dickhead who really thinks he can try reading five books at once, what an asshole." This isn't my fault David, it's yours. You and your fuckin age o reason! I'm sorry, I love you.
