I thouroughly liked this book. Seabiscuit was the Horatio Alger of racehorses. There was nothing physically to attract notice. He was ungainly and in a way his owner, his trainer and his jockey were also. He suited the common man during the depression era and when he won it was like all the ordinary people won against all the odds. The book traces Seabiscuit from his earliest days and is a wonderful rags to riches story. No other horse has won the hearts of so many ordinary people. It is also the story of his owner, trainer and jockey and how Seabiscuit pulled them up out of obscurity and made them more than they were also. It is a story of obstacles overcome and victory snatched from the jaws of defeat.

I love a good fluffy YA. Especially one by an author who can write well and whose whose characters are actually charming and likable. Many times, recently, I've had to send books straight to the shelf with one star and no review (nor a mention on my feed). Unearthly is refreshingly mentionable! Surprisingly so. Nice work Cynthia Hand.

There are three parts to this trilogy and all will be available on Kindle in the next few months. I can't review this as I wrote it!

Would have been five stars except for one thing: the mushrooms. Midway through the book, the man finds the only non-human living thing he's seen in years... and he promptly eats them without a second thought.
I hate to not finish a book but I just could not get into this one....

If you want to read a very scary book, this is it. It is not scary as in vampires and other paranormal stuff. This is scary in that it can happen and is happening right now. For anyone who values freedom, this book is a must read.

It has been years since I've read this book, but I still remember this gut-wrenching story.

I've read all three of Gladwell's books--The Tipping Point, Blink, and Outliers. He writes about very interesting subjects that make you think a little harder and longer. He certainly seems to deeply analyze and research a lot of subjects. And while I don't agree with all of his conclusions, I think his books are worth the time to read and to consider.
