The first 475 pages a little slow; the last 35 are totally worth it.

I was not able to finsih this book before our book club met, so thankfully our hostess gave an excellent summary. Lot's of twists and turns and underlying issues to make a good discussion book.

Imagine you awake to news reports of a baby left in the trash near your house. Not just near your house, you learn, but actually in the dumpster behind your house. The police come to your door to question whether you've heard or seen anything suspicious that may have led to the baby girl found, but instead of simply questioning you, they start to wonder why you're home from school. You tell them you'd been sick that day. But then, sick doesn't explain the blood. You look more than sick to the police. You look like someone who has just given birth. Someone who has just given birth to a little girl who just happens to have been discarded in the trash downstairs. After a trip to the hospital, you're now headed to jail and charged with attempted murder. But you don't even remember being pregnant, let alone having and getting rid of a baby. Or do you? Devon can't recall being pregnant at all. She would never do something like that, you know? She's too responsible to be engaging in sex, or getting pregnant like some regular kid. She's an athlete and an honor student, and she's just smarter than that. It is these feelings, combined with extreme shame which cause her to make the horrific mistake she does by throwing away the baby she gives birth to alone at home. The hardest part about this book was realizing that there was no way to stop Devon. When the story opens, she's already done this unimaginable thing and the reader is just along for the ride back. Through her time in Juvenile hall as she awaits her trial, we learn more about why she is the perfectionist she is, and how little she has in common with the other imprisoned girls. The baby is rarely mentioned, and the author leaves it to us to determine how we feel about Devon. Being inside the thoughts of the teen girls who make this choice was the motivation behind Efaw's writing this story and while she missed the mark at some moments, it does give a close and chilling peak into the mind of this girl. Devon is not a likable character per se, but she is one that makes you care for her as the story reveals how pitiful and fractured she is underneath the sports and grades.

He has not forgiven that Jared has walked away without a word after their night of love. He wants revenge. He wants to bed Jared and then, this time, be him who walks away. But Jared is a tormented soul. War and regrets have left him empty. He admits to love Dalton, but he can't admit in front of his family and his friends that he is gay. His life and his work will be destroy. Fear, hope, love all mixed up in a brief romance that will leave you asking for more. Shayla Kersten has managed to concentrare in few words a whirlwind of emotions. Till now the better romance in the Naughtly Nuptials series I have read. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0030UDWCK/?...

I think one of the best books I have even read. How amazing if the plot is hidden in the last sentence of the book. Not many writers can do that. Amazing!
