This book is about a girl in China and it takes you through her life. The footbinding, her laotong (a best friend that shares women's secret writing with her), and her arranged marriage. I almost loved this book-about (3.5 stars). I was kind of disappointed in how the book turned near the end with Snow Flower. And in the middle I thought that it was kind of slow. However, I thought it was a very interesting read. A good look into the Chinese culture.

I just wan't feeling it, y'know? No connection to the characters at all, or the narrator's voice... I might have finished it if I had the time, but I just don't, what with all the other books I have to cram in before exams. Ah, well.
This chapter of the Black Dagger brotherhood picks up where Lover Eternal leaves off and explores the relationship between Zsadist and Bella. The backstory of the events that have formed Zsadist's anger-filled and antisocial personality are interspersed with the travails facing the blossoming relationship between Bella and himself. The mystery of Phury's missing leg is solved and John, the youngster introduced in "Lover Eternal", begins to adapt to his heritage. Another nice addition to the Black Dagger tales.

Arrgh. This was the dumbest book I've ever read, and I've read Fountainhead. The architect was stupid, the crimes were stupid and I wish I could get the 2 hours of my life back that it took to read this book. I would never have read it if is wasn't for World Architecture News...
This was very much like the movie of a few years ago (Practical Magic). In fact I rented the movie after just to verify. It wasn't the book they actually took the movie from but there are some serious resemblance. I did enjoy this book. Would reccomend it for a light/fun read

This was my first John Grisham book. I was hesitant at first b/c I wasn't sure I would be a Grisham fan, but I was completely surprised. He didn't overdo it on the boring facts of the actual case and spent quality time developing the characters. I remained curious as to what would happen next. I suppose I am a new Grisham fan and am now reading another.
Definitely not my favorite Eco book, but still pretty fun to read. Its a little dense (okay, so are all of Eco's books) but its a really interesting look at mid-20th century pop culture with some wacky and loveable characters. Still, if you've never read Eco, I wouldn't start with this one.

Alright, you know what? I'm not going to apologize for either a.) liking this book or b.) being surprised. Good for Ms. Rowling that she's a superstar for ushering in a new genre of children's literature. Comparatively, this work isn't as good as any of the books or short stories traditional spoon-fed to kids, but this might offer training wheels of a sort for kids who don't like to read. And besides, it's fun. Who can complain about that?
