Plato's writings regarding the final days in the life of Greek philosopher Socrates, including Euthyphro, Apology, Crito, and Phaedo. An interesting addition to the only other Plato I've read before — his Republic. In his Apology, Socrates seems quite full of himself, and in Phaedo he gets rather tiring — but soon ends. I was given and first read this book decades ago, and was recently reminded of it in the notes of Time, Love, Memory, by Jonathan Weiner.

I was going to say I really liked it - but then I couldn't exactly remember what it was about which makes me think it should be dropped to an I liked it. I just finished reading it a couple of days ago - it shouldn't be that hard to conjure up the book. I found that I was more interested in his life with his uncle. Although, I was very surprised at the end to see how little time he actually spent with his uncle. I thought he had been there for a lot longer. I find it sad yet amazing to me how resourceful children become when their parents are alcoholics/drug addicts. They know how to get the bowl and the cereal using the kitchen chairs, etc, when most children just have everything given to them. And usually it's "don't stand on the chairs!". Small children never cease to amaze me. I found his adult life more boring. Fate is funny and I do like how fate plays a part in the book. It was just chance he was giving the tour. He normally didn't. But yet that one small step lead to a long term relationship. The ripple effect which I just love. And, now, I kinda want to go to England which never happens. I think that place is overrated lol. So, good job book! See - I think if I would have wrote this review way back when, I would have said I really liked it.

"BELFAST GIRLS" BY GERRY MCCULLOUGH I loved this book. Ireland has always been an interest of mine and learning more about it from this book was simply amazing. The story of two girls, Shelia and Phil and their life in Belfast, Ireland as they go from being children to teenagers and finally adults is touching enough. Though when you begin to toss in a few boys here and there especially John Branagh and Davy Hagan, life starts to get a bit difficult. Two girls, hopelessly in love with two boys, one destined for the priesthood and trying to live a good life, the other into mob activity, drugs, and all kinds of trouble. They lead these two girls on such an adventure and even though Shelia and Philomena know they should turn away and forget them, it's impossible when they keep popping back up in their lives. A touching story and at the same time a fantastic parody of modern life in Ireland, Gerry McCullough has written a wonderful book. I would place this high on the list of to-reads! A deliciously woven tale about leopard shifters; Gar, Hallie, and Cal are definitely characters you’ll remember after you’ve washed your sheets. Although the dialogue was a bit stretched at times and not long enough at others, you still got a glimpse into their lives and how being together they really are better than when they’re apart. A very interesting tale dealing with lykans, leopards, and even reincarnation; Hallie’s Cats is a definite must read. 4 divas and a long side look at Cal…I see you baby!! Call Me!! Reviewed by M.N. "It is surprising what one learns from this book. Very well written and argued, even if I don't agree with all his assumptions. Explains many apparent contradictions in economic history."
