Weirdly tech-savvy in an everyday-normal way you don't normally see in books, and lots of pop-science quantum mechanics married to, like, Derrida 101 and theology and stuff. And it's written in the present tense. .... but it's actually about telepathy. Sort of. Dragged in a few places, but is mostly really engrossing. (If you liked The Matrix you'd probably really like this, and I'm not just saying that because there's a Baudrillard epigraph. But not liking The Matrix shouldn't keep you away from it, either.)

Like the Fountainhead, this book could have used some editing. But I daresay that no editor/publisher had the audacity to take on Ayn Rand...

Read (and loved) it as a kid - still love it as an adult! Cute, funny, charming... What more can I say? It's classic Roald Dahl...

Asi před pěti minutami jsem dokončila tuto knížku a kdybych mohla, dala bych jí deset hvězdiček. Já prostě ani nevím, co říct než WOW. Prostě WOW.

I had already read the journey of his life through adulthood and the difficulties he faced so a lot of what I was reading had already been mentioned in the other book. I just felt so sorry for him and wanted to bring him home so he could have a normal childhood. I am so glad he has managed to deal with his past and have a life with a good woman by his side.

Another excellent sci-fi novel, a classic in its genre (when the genre was more about examining current-day issues and philosophy and less about laser blasters and space babes) that is well worth the read. It is definitely understandable why someone wanted to make a movie about it - the setting and characters and quandry are excellent for a film - and also why they changed a lot of the story and adapted instead of basing it on the book - a lot of things in the story that don't translate well to the screen. If you like Blade Runner, then read this - it's worth your time. Deckard was a human, not a replicant.
The use of "he said" instead of a specific person, and multiple names for the same character were tedious sometimes, but overall it was a decent read.

I loved this book. I always love Jodi Picoult books and this one didn't disappoint. I thought the subject matter of 'wrongful birth' was a little disturbing, but Picoult always handles difficult subject matter well. I sometimes had a hard time liking the character of the mother, but then there would be times that I thought she was trying to do what was best for her daughter. I was often torn. Great book.
