I am adoring this series. Strong character development and fun magic bits. A bit of the let's abuse our main character that's been going around, but overall I LOVE Miranda.

When I was a little kid my mom would read this to me when I was having a "Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very bad day"

Yeah, this is kind of a funny story. When you think about it. Maybe at the surface it doesn't look very funny. I mean, the surface is Craig Gilner, a nerd who is so depressed at his new high-end high school in NYC he's on the verge of killing himself. OKay, that isn't funny. But then he goes into this psych ward place and meets all these funny people. So, in short this book was kind of funny. He said a lot of things that made sense and on top of it, he reminded me a bit of Holden Caulfield in The Catcher in the Rye which is awesome because I love that book. But if you don't love this book, then maybe it isn't the one for you. And maybe you should read something more boring like Twilight or something. Haha, I'm just kidding. Like this book ! :)

So sue me, I hated this book. I don't care if it is a classic.
Fast read (short book).

I had the privilege of hearing Frankly speak once, when he was on a book tour for this book. I'm so glad I finally found the time to read it. He had a remarkable career that is a true reminder of why history and historians matter. There were things I knew, but many things I didn't (he did research for Thurgood Marshall to use in Brown v. Board!). He tells his story in a completely straight forwrad, matter-of-fact way, even though my jaw would drop at some of the names he dropped. Truly one of the greats in American history, and well worth the read for anyone interested in 20th century history. He knew all the players, protested with many of them, and did all he could for civil rights.

I've lost count of how many times I've read and reread this book. It's a favorite.

Read it while in St Petersburg which made it awesome! But not an easy read.

I enjoy the development of the characters and the place. I want to go work at the lodge and learn French.
This book made up of letters from Judy, who is an orphan, to the anonymous man who is paying for her to get a college education was a delightful, funny, fast read. Because it was written in the early 1900's, it gives you a peek at what it must have been like for the women getting a college education during this time period.
