Basic information for Thermosets. Although a generation old now, it still fills in gaps in much later studies and is good foundation

If you haven't read Carl Sandburg, do so. Known primarily as a poet, his historical works are poetry in and of themselves. Here is a sampling of this work about the life of Mary Todd Lincoln--"Tragedy works in shadows, often dealing with a borderline of dark fate where neither the doctors nor lawyers can tell just what is happening".

Okay so vampires. These days, usually used to inject some sex into a book, I find. Not so in this case - they were seen truly as the horrorible demons they were originally purported to be. And our protagonists weren't fierce vampire hunters, but historians - normal people forced into the hunt by fear and fascination. Pretty cool.

Copy #171 of 300 found in Seattle bookshop in Pioneer Square -- what a surprise! Poetry by an old friend back in the day, and artwork by my best friend ex-husband. What I learned? Haiku rules!

I'm one of those strange readers that tends to prefer at most two POVs in a book. It's just a personal preference in that I inevitably like one or two characters more than the rest and tend to skim over the POVs that I don't and get irritated that the POVs I like get shortened from the other POVs. If that makes sense. I find this to be a big problem in Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series. I tends to skip over other characters or couples POVs to read about the main couple. It turns what I would rate normally as a four start book series into a three. It's just a personal preference, and while this series is ridiculously popular I know I'm in the minority here. It's just I felt I needed to rant a little about it here.
I loved the cover of this book for a long time before I read it, and despite the judging-by-a-cover problem, this time my intuition that I would like what was inside was right on. I loved this book for its different personalities, for the way the each section of the book follows so unexpectedly from the one before. I thought this book was smart, but not snooty-smart, just unique and thoughtful. Go on, read it already!
I read this book at the perfect time in my life. I was living away from home for the first time and wanted to experience life to the fullest. I loved this book. I couldn't stop reading it. I read it 3 times. And that was a lot considering I didn't like to re-read books. (I still don't). Alex Garland is a talented story teller who I believe doesn't get enough credit. Read this book, you won't regret it!!!

Book 14 for 2010. I'm not sure why I waited so long to read Star Trek "extra" stories. I mean, I love the show. I love the movies. And this book has been calling to me every time I walked by it at B&N. So finally I bought it, shoved it to the top of the TBR list, and read it fast. And even though I wouldn't really consider it YA, I loved reading it and am already looking forward to the next one in the series. Highly recommended for Star Trek fans (hardcore is good, but fans of the most recent movie will enjoy it, too).
