7/05/09 I finished CD32 today and was so sad for the sage to come to an end. This is a great book, a very satisfying read. Having both read and listened, I recommend that you listen to this story... the narrator does a fabulous job and there's just something about having a great storyteller read you a story. I will admit that it's hard to hear some of the more graphic battle scenes or lusty sex scenes (only 1 or 2) but it's worth it to hear the rest of the story. 5/09 My mom finished this audio epic (finally!) and passed it on to me. I' just into the 5th CD of a 32 CD audio tome and remembering why I enjoyed it so much. It has been great fun hearing parts of the story I had forgotten and realizing how "earthy" it can be in some places - authentic for the medieval times... (you notice that kind of thing more when you listen to books as opposed to reading them). Since I only listen in the car to and from work (a 15 minute commute), it will take me awhile to get through. sometimes you just need a big ole' story to sink your teeth into for a long time. The great thing about this edition is the note from author Ken Follett, talking about the reason for the unexpected success of this book - "word of mouth"..Isn't that what Goodreads is all about? Prepare yourself for a long haul, burrow in and read it...the story will draw you in so deeply,you'll never notice time passing... Great for a road trip. (you can borrow mine when I'm finished. 3/09 Again, at Patti's recommendation, I began reading this hefty book 3-4 years ago. Got about halfway through it and thoroughly enjoyed it, but for some reason put aside and did not ever pick it up again. This year, while looking for a great audio book for my mom, I stumbled on the audio version of the books (32 CD's) for a bargain price, so I got it for her. (Yes, I confess ulterior motives - I wanted to borrow it when she was done.) Well she is now done - and I am now in possession of the audio version... Can't wait to load it up into the CD player in my car... after Secret Life of bees, naturally. It is a great story about a builder, a priest and a great cathedral in medieval times. Whether you read it in book form or allow someone else to read it to you, it's well worth the time invested.

This was an AWESOME book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. There wasn't a dull spot in it. It's full of humor a little romance and some mystery. I fell in love with the characters and stayed up late reading it. I don't usually keep or read a book twice. I might have to hang onto this one. It's definitely one of the top books I have read recently.

New to me when I read it, and really interesting information about how various foods affect our health in many ways. The main focus is on pain. Information is given about the inflammatory and anti-inflammatory natures of various foods. Promotes a vegan diet but shows which vegan (plant source) foods can cause problems also. It’s educational about which foods to include or avoid. The facts seem to correlate with chronic and acute sufferer’s actual experiences in their pain levels. Worth reading and giving the recommendations a try!
