Ayn Rand set out in 'Atlas Shrugged' to show that Socialism though full of good intention cannot work because when those who have, give away, then those who get soon have used up everything that's been given away and the givers soon have nothing left to give.

Matty grows up. Matty becomes the messenger to Leader (Jonas by any other name might not smell as sweet). Matty must go through Forest to reach Kira to bring her to Seer, her father. And then there's the ending. If the ending of The Giver left you frustrated, this might as well. Grr.

Eh. Can't really conjure more than eh about this book. In some ways it reminds me a lot of the books I used to read when I was 15/16/17 about girls in regency England and trying to find a husband, but in other ways the husband-finding parts were secondary to Lilly helping her father's shop (horrors!! a girl! Working!). The Christian aspect of the book didn't really come into play until the second half, and maybe because it hadn't been overwhelming for most of the book it felt jarring to suddenly have it in the story. Some situations were just too convenient, and by the end of the book I was wondering if Lilly ever met ANY man her age who DIDN'T fall in love with her. Also, revelations at the books end were just... wrong. Sloppy almost. As if the author reached 350 pages and was like "oh, gotta wrap up the mother storyline- ideas of family thrown out the window, GO!" All in all, just... eh.

Third book in the "Dragon Tattoo" trilogy. It wasn't out in English yet when I finished the first two, so I read it in Norwegian. Not quite as fast as reading it in English.
