The Chinese discovered America 71 years before Columbus. Under the Ming dynasty several fleets of ocean-going junks set out in early 1400s to explore other parts of the world. Carried by prevailing winds and currents they touched coasts of Africa, Australia, Antarctica, South America and in 1421, North America. Cultural artifacts of visits remain. Most voyage records were lost in China due to a fire so author traveled extensively to research routes of the Chinese sailors. He’s a former Royal Navy sub commander and professional navigator and this book is written as a first person narrative. One interesting quote: “Columbus’s true legacy to posterity is not the discovery of the Americas, but of the circulatory wind systems of the Atlantic he so brilliantly analyzed and exploited on his later voyages.”
Biography of the Roget behind the thesaurus. Interesting historical profile of the Regency and Victorian eras in England.
BORING. Couldn't make it past 60 pages.

I just love these books. Georgie is so fun, the mysteries are a treat, and that Darcy O'Mara is a hunk. ;) My roommate asked me if the mysteries in this series are predictable, and I couldn't remember. I think they probably are a bit on the predictable side, but I enjoy the story so much that it really doesn't matter to me. I'm excited to read more now that I know there's already a fifth one out!
I think I'm the only person on the planet who really didn't like this book. It was so tedious and unrewarding. The temporary redemption and interest was the love story of Lefty and Desdemona. I left it midway and never looked back.
Love, love, love this book. Have read it three times and am still looking forward to the time I'll get to read it. haven't decided if this or "Alias Grace" is my favourite
As bella moves to Forks she comes in counter to a very strange guy named Edward. Edward has to make a decision whether he wants to risk it all for her or leave and go far, far away. But towards the end Bella and Edward must face some obstacles in order to be together.

3.5 Stars So I have to say, I liked the story, and I liked the plot line. But the thing that disappointed me was how choppy the story was. There wasn't much introduction into the characters before you are suddenly thrust into the main plot. Sometimes it's a good thing, but in this case it's so rushed. Breena is a likable character who of course is secretly loved by her best friend Logan. Her mother is suddenly "gone on a business trip" on her 16th birthday and that's all that's said about it. And of course she has been having these dreams of Fairies sense she was little, staring the gorgeous Prince Kian. Can we say love triangle. Oh yes we can. To top it off the book ends suddenly, which is to say it starts quickly and ends quickly. It is only 196 pages, with incredibly large font. I was just starting to get into the main plot and then the book ends. Like I said before, it's not to say that the characters aren't likable, but I feel like the story was a bit underdeveloped. Maybe it won't be so bad once I pick up the second book, and find out what's next. We'll see.

This is a period of English history that fascinates me but the book couldn't hold my attention for very long and I found my mind wandering about halfway through. There are much better books on the same subject to be found -- read those instead of this.

Uno de los pocos libros que puedo leer de nuevo y nunca me canso de él. Totalmente vale la pena leer!
