Paints a dark, stunning picture of another time, another place, another set of hopes, dreams, yearning, confusion. Leaves you asking questions, wishing for answers in the same way that the "authors" were in their "investigations" of the Lisbon girls.

I'm not a big non-fiction reader and am far from a WWII buff, but this is easily one of the best books I have ever read.

I was glued from the very start. This book barely made it through one day. I am definitely going to check out his other books.

Yawn. Every single time I picked up this book and began reading, my eyes began to droop and slumber approached. I can understand its' significance in regard to capturing a time and place in American history, but I couldn't connect with the characters, and was bored by the dry narrative. I tried to force myself to read it, because it won a Pulitzer, and is considered to be an important American novel, but there are too many other books out there begging me to read them, and too little time to read them all. The Magnificent Ambersons underwhelmed me completely.

Very cute pictures and a nice story about friendship.

It was a good read -however, too much like the Jaycee Duggard scenario - even though this was written before that

I really enjoyed this book - the twists and turns of the family mystery were great. I didn't guess the ending until it actually happened, which is rare. So many books are so predictable anymore.

I'm in the midst of this now, and I hope to finish it this weekend--
If we are, indeed, what we eat, then Americans are in trouble. Schlosser does a great job of tracing the story of how what we put into our stomachs has farther-reaching consequences than most of us realize.
