Of course after reading Twilight 4 times I decided it was time to move on to "New Moon" I was pretty upset with the book early into it. I don't want to give much away, but It irritated me. The middle kinda bored me, but I know now it was because I was just not happy about what was happening with the characters. This book was not as good as Twilight, but after reading it a second time I did enjoy it :)

The best book of the series, and a fitting ending. I'm convinced now that this series is one of the best, given its geographical scope (from various states to Japan to Australia to France), and its in-depth focus on so many characters. Not every question is answered, but Yorick makes some satisfying discoveries. I'll probably be re-reading the whole thing in a few years...

today the Algonquin Hotel bar offers for the ultimate fan the "Mrs. Parker" = a $15 cosmopolitan. If you're as nerdy as me, you'll bring the book with you to read while you nurse the shit out of a week's food money.

Very insightful book into the pattern of human thinking, and it rings true. some may scoff or disregard it, but I think that none could dissagre with me whan I say that the Mr Maybury's inights are truely uniqe and well thought through. I feel confidant in proclaiming that though small, this book contains more revolutionary insights than can be found in entire series of books. A book well read.
When I first began reading this book, I thought it would be a little light. It is somewhat confusing in the beginning as she is writing like she is sitting there on your sofa, sharing a cup of coffee and telling you a story. Like most of us southern gals, she sort of "goes around Aunt Sally's pea patch" to get to the point! Once I got into it though, I realized how tough most of her life has been and how miraculous her success is. Maybe because I have had 5 long, tough years of similar stuggles, I could REALLY relate to her story. I am a HUGE fan of Paula Deen's cooking show and recipes, and getting an inside look at The Lady herself was touching and inspiring. She is one emotionally and mentally tough woman. Near the end of her book she says that once she made up her mind to take responsibility for herself and the gifts God gave her, rather than look to everyone else to be taken care of, that it just seemed God made sure she was always in the right place at the right time. I really got some much needed inspiration from her story. No, it's not the deepest book I'll ever read, but it was surprisingly eye-opening and prompted a few paradigm shifts. I'd say it's definitely worth a read, especially if you've been through (or are going through) some tough times. I have a whole new respect for Paula and her boys!
I laughed so hard. I read this book in two days.
dogs! :)

Good holy God, this book was awful. Remember how I described the characters in the first book of the series as "two-dimensional"? Well they were Michelangelo sculptures compared with how they're portrayed here. The first book was at least a little fun in a lunatic sort of way. The whole tongue-in-cheek, making-fun-of-itself-possibly tone of "The Invaders Plan" has dissolved by this point into a pointless, rambling, completely insane, going nowhere collection of tripe. And if that wasn't bad enough, the book is also boring! Do a google search under "Mission Earth; Black Genesis", and any summary you get of the series will have JUST as much interesting detail as all 431 pages of this plodding mess. Wretched, embarrassing, waste of time. Why I went on to read the third book of the series I'll never know.
