The text had a lot of profound insights, but the story overall was lacking something. Something I can't quite put my finger on.

Very interesting and informative. I learned quite a bit!
I received this ARC from NetGalley. Pretty good book with lots of action that balances the romance perfectly. In this book we find Lucas, a FBI agent, running for his life from the mob and hops into the car of Katie. After a car chase and an arrest by the local PD, Katie also must go on the run and who better to guard her then the very man who got her into the whole mess to began with. Over the next couple days they act on their attraction while coming to terms with secrets that could tear them apart. I liked how Katie seemed to become a stronger woman who could stand up for herself in the face of a very scary man. She didn't stay the weak woman who went along with what the strong alpha males dictated to her. I would love to read a follow up book to find out more about Lucas's friend and boss, David.
My first Jay Brandon novel, and it will not be my last! Very intrigueing.

Quite charming!!
So, now I've read the first Bridget Jones book and I'm on to this book. I think I may like this one more. I *have* been laughing out loud this time. I'm beginning to feel affectionate about Shazzer and the girls. I like that Bridget's getting her life a little more in line. And I enjoyed the dash of politics in discussing Tony Blair's election. Suddenly between this book and the recent film The Queen I have a general idea about his role in history. Handy side benefit. I think with a sequel like this there is totally the potential to lose momentum but, I don't see Fielding slowing down any. I know that the books were based on a newspaper column she published and I wonder how she decided to make two books out of it. Did the material naturally divide up into two volumes? Did she try to stop at the end of book one and then get urged into continuing and thus creating a second volume? Did making it into one book make it intimidatingly long? I'm curious.
